Wall Duty! = Link
Word Count: 1355 /1000Lee stood at the front gate of Hyougagakure with mixed emotions. He felt as though he would be able to make a difference in the lives of his fellow villagers by doing the job given to him but the other feeling...well, it was one that he took with a bit of loathing. His country was meant for great things but it seemed that the wall that his village so proudly showed off was also the thing he felt was a weakness to them. It kept anyone out they was not wanted and protected those on the inside well but it was strictly a defensive object, it had no potential for an offensive assault.
But, even with this mindset and his current...affiliation with certain groups of questionable origins, he had to keep his own motives and moral compass to his own personal setting. But even now, he had to keep his cover and make sure that every mission was done correctly and without delay, at least to the best of his abilities and currently, it was the watching of the wall.
He had been given orders to do what every ninja did at some point in their life and he was no different. He would have to make petrol the main gate and then move to the wall above it. Though, he would have company so the night would not be that lonely and for that, he wondered just what kind of person would be assigned the same job as he. The sun had gone down just a few moments ago and the only people at the gate were traveling into the village which would leave him by himself till his college arrived.
The night took on fast at the gate where he stood off to the side and looked around to find that no one was within the immediate vicinity. This was a good and a bad thing as he was not supposed to be completely alone. His arms crossed and his foot lightly tapping against the ground would be a small means of keeping himself entertained which, at this point, wasn't all that hard as anything would entertain him at that point. There was a silence that seemed to give the air a bit of complexity to it. It wasn't that normal silence, it was a silence where all the noises were so common place, that they fit too well. The wind and the cold sound of his breathing as he placed his hands to his sides and took in a deep breath of cold air.
The sun had been out of sight for some time and the moon had taken its place, as well as every star in the night sky. That was a beautiful thing about Hyouga, the fact that the air always seemed crisp and clean, the sky was always clear and the temperature was always low. With his unique blood, the cold never seemed to phase him much as it was constantly shifting when in Hyougagakure and kept his internal body temperature just a bit higher than normal and so long as he kept it that way, was comfortable... well, as comfortable as one could be standing outside in the middle of the night by themselves.
He looked around and still saw no partner in sight and at this point, did not want to see them. He would be damned if he would let someone show themselves at this point and take credit for being here the entire time, he was not one to let that sort of behavior slide, no matter how it looked on him. But, that was something he didn't have to worry about till the time came to deal with it. He looked around and figured that since his team member was not to be joining him, he would have to keep a lookout in the wall as well and with that though, pushed himself from his post and began to make his way to a set of stairs that would lead into the wall and onto a balcony that stood above the gate and looked out over the seemingly crystalline forest.
He leaned forward while placing his forearms onto the railing and placed his lips together and then exhaled as if he was smoking and let the breath take shape in the form of a smoke-like fashion. He then paused as he looked down to look at a beetle that had began to work its way onto his arm and he rose it up to eye level "
Trying to stay warm too?" He tilted his head slightly to the side as he rose his other hand up and placed his index finger against his thumb and then lowered it in front of the bug "
That's all well and good but I'm not anyone's host." And with that, released his finger to flick the unsuspecting bug out into the air and watched as it fell to the ground. He placed his forearms onto the railing once more and returned to the silence.
This had gone on for some time but it wasn't until something had gotten his attention, a bit of movement in some bushes and then silence that he began to think that something or someone might be out there. This was the only thing that had happened during his otherwise eventless night and if, by the off chance, it was someone, surely they would have shown themselves to be let in and not hiding from him and so, it would warrant further investigation.
Lee pulled himself over the railing and jumped down to the ground below in an effortless manner but the real thing he had to keep with was the location of the perpetrator. He still did not have the use of his sword but he had gone this far without it so he was not in any rush to give himself an upper hand, he needed to make sure he could take whatever was thrown at him with the tools he had on him at that moment.
But before he had begun to move toward the direction of the motion, it had come to him and it came in the form of a rather large boar and it seemed agitated. So much so that the appearance of a target seemed to finally push it over the edge and sent it in a charge toward Lee who reacted with haste as he rose his hands up in front of him and took hold of one of the tusks for only a moment before throwing himself off to the side and stumbling to his feet, shaking his now injured hand slightly. The boar slid to a halt and turned and began another charge but this time, Lee held his hand back as if he was about to throw a shuriken and as he made the motion to throw, he spoke "
Blood release, bloody sword." and with each flick of the hand, a shuriken of blood that looked almost like a snowflake spun through the air, one striking the boar's tusk whilst the others shot into the ground at an arch.
The boar veering off its course from the strike to its tusk and the following weapons of blood causing it to run back off into the forest. Lee stood and watched it run off into the wilds, the boar was outside the village and would do no real harm and if it did, it would be on the next fellow to have to do guard. The sun slowly then began to peek itself up and blind Lee which, caused him to raise his hand up in front of his eyes. It was more eventful than a normal wall guard but his time was done and he could only hope that the next guard would be the one that did not show up tonight and let him take care of the boar if it should return. For now, Lee wished to see if he could get some sleep for the night he had missed.
