The Deer = Link
Word Count: 1065 /1000Lee stood in the faint light of the setting sun in front of a large building. Another mission was given for him to complete and this one was going to be a bit more...difficult. He held his arms over his chest in wonder on just whom would keep a pet deer and why they would let something like that out of their sights if they did. But, he wasn't in the position to complain, the money was to be nice if he completed the mission as expected of him and it would be another citizen helped and content.
He was to wait for the sun to disappear from the sky before he could begin completely. It seemed that the animal he was after was wild, far more than some cat or dog and thus, trying to catch something in the daylight when there were people about surely would mean that the animal would either be hurt or hurt someone else. At night, there would be no one out besides himself and a select others who were already told of his mission and to stay clear of him whilst he did it. He was to capture the animal without harm or bloodshed on the animal's behalf and Lee had till the break of dawn to do this.
The sun finally disappeared behind the wall of the Hyougagakure and the sky darkened with dots of stars in the sky and almost instantly, he heard the sounds of movement and quickly started into the village in hopes of finishing the mission quickly. His search started with a dead end alleyway which was good, that meant that the animal would have nowhere else to run once cornered. The noise shifted and so did Lee's attention as a trash can tipped over and he rushed forward, about to tackle the animal but when he turned the corner and held his arms out, a cat hissed and swatted at him. "
Well, I guess that would be too ea-" before he could finish, his attention was caught by the sight of a pair of eyes, starring in the darkness and quickly, galloping off.
Lee gave chase, jumping over several boxes and trash cans and wondered just why everything had to get in the way. Once he was where he saw the eyes, there was nothing but it was something he already knew was going to happen. He took in a deep breath and sighed, rubbing the side of his head. He looked around and saw nothing and placed his hands onto his hips and wondered just how it was he was going to catch the beast once he actually found it. But even before he could form a single though, something dashed out from behind the bush and galloped faster than he could follow from the sudden movement and in doing so, Lee took off after the shadowy figure.
He drew his hand back and was bout to throw a kunai at the animal but before he could, his mind snapped at him. No harm was to come to the animal else the reward become forfeit. Lee quickly withdrew the weapon and aimed to quicken his pace as the shadow dipped off in between two buildings. Lee jumped up and ran across the rooftop and shot down to block off the deer "
Got cha!" and as he spoke this, the shadow jumped through the air and right over Lee's head. In a reflex, Lee reached down and took hold of the first thing he could and suddenly, he would hit the ground, the deer squirming to free itself from his grasp. Lee was about to exclaim his joy when he was met with something that shattered that joy. "I'm sorry man! I'll Go Home!"
In his grasp was the ankle of a young boy that seemingly ran from his home. Lee stood up with the boy still in his grasp, now holding him upside down and raised him to eye level. "
You need to get yourself home or the next time I catch you, I'll take off one of your toes." The boy froze and stopped struggling at the threat. It was definitely something to think about but before the boy could give a reply, Lee saw it this time, in the moonlight, the deer, standing across the way, starring directly at him as if to show it had been watching him this entire time.
Lee instantly dropped the boy who landed on his back "OW!" and with that simple two letters, it was as good as a gunshot as the deer shot up and then began to bounce off. Lee was not about to let such a thing happen as he was off just as fast, not wanting to have too much distance between him and his reward. He had to keep sight of it and think of just how he was going to catch it and bring it back to the owner without hurting it, willingly or unwillingly, an animal that runs doesn't want to be kept cooped up again. It wasn't as simple as wrapping it up or leading it away with treats or words...
It was then that Lee had thought of something. He could not catch the animal so simply, that would just cause more wasted time that was already not on his side. He held his hands together and suddenly, five shadow clones showed themselves and they show off in different directions, seemingly having a plan, Lee continued to run after the deer though the chances of him catching the animal was unlikely with its speed. The deer continued to run and never let Lee get close but as it was about to pounce around a corner, a shadow clone stood and shook its arms in the air which caused the deer to re-think its actions and launched itself back where it was about to meet Lee again and decided to run off down a road. With each turn, it was met with another clone till it found escape, rushing into a building...where Lee would then close the gate.
The deer had ran right into the courtyard of the owner and with time to spare. Lee would enjoy his reward and even got some much needed exercise in the process and possibly, some sleep.
