Investigate the Monster = Link
Word Count: 1429 /1000The sword glimmered in the sunlight. The massive weapon held itself close to the back of the silver haired man that was its wielder. Another mission meant that it was time to do his duty as a member of Hyougagakure and to that end, he was to do as he was told. He was given basic set of orders to follow. He was to take a small boat across to the mainland and go along a certain route. Along this route he should find the object of his mission though, the objects nature and its details are fuzzy at best. It seems that one of the smaller villages have had money taken along this way and Lee has been hired to find out why and what.
He had found a small boat, wooden, long enough to fit four to five people but seeing as he was doing this on his own, it wasn't much a problem in terms of people. The boat had a simple design with two paddles and an ore and lucky for Lee, it didn't have any holes that could be seen and hopefully nothing would spring in the middle of the water, it was along way back to land and he wouldn't have any idea if he had the chakra to walk back or the stamina to swim if it came right down to it. But there was only one way for the little boat and it was out on the water and for the sole purpose of finding what ever it was that was attacking people and then he could bring back something to the kage to show his success.
Lee had pushed away from the dock and had started out. Lee stood at the back of the boat, ore in hand as he slowly shifted it from one side to the other, the boat moving slowly but surely across the way.
"Well...I should have gotten a clearer location than simply...drifting..." He looked back and saw that the island wasn't too far off so he had not gotten that far but he surely had further to go. That was, until there was a sudden tug on the ore and suddenly it just locked up.
"What the...?" He pulled on the ore but it just remained locked in place, not moving a bit. The boat itself started to shift from one side to the other and continued to do so, growing more and more violent as things went on.
Lee moved both hands onto the ore and began to pull, harder and harder on it to try and get it to move but at the sound of a loud creak, he stopped. If he kept pulling and pushing, he'd break the ore and the boat would be useless. Lee looked forward and leaned forward just a bit as if to get a better look at something. Ahead of him and in the direction the boat was heading was a swirling whirlpool was there, growing ever larger the closer he drew to it. He looked around and saw there were several rocky formations dotted around the area and he wasn't about to go down with the ship.
He rose up and jumped into the air and landed on a large rock that had a flat surface, from the constant watery erosion from the waves so it was rather smooth too. The boat grew closer and closer till it got caught in the current and began to circle around within the whirlpool and the closer it got to its center, it began to capsize and go under. Lee just simply watched the boat go under and would look over the waters in wait for something to show itself but as quickly as the torrent appeared, it grew smaller and smaller till the waters returned to normal.
"That wasn't normal." That much was obvious and what made it all the more obvious was that the same whirlpool began to form not to far from the rock he was on though, something was different with this one.
Lee reached back and took hold of the handle of the sword on his back as, from within the center of the whirlpool, there was an eruption that sent a pillar of water skyward but instead of just coming back down, it stayed in the air, the pillar turning into more of a blob than anything, keeping a shape, not a solid one but a shape none the less. It was then that Lee thought to attack it before it could complete its transformation...or attack it after it was complete, he wasn't sure, he had never encountered something like this so he wasn't entirely sure what would work. He reached over his shoulder and took hold of his sword's handle and lunged at the monster. But midair, the monster began to shift around and a sort of mouth formed and fired a mass of water. Lee quickly moved his sword to its broad side and it took the brunt of the force but sent Lee sailing across the sky but he came crashing down into the water but just as quickly shot right back out and jumped onto a rock and held his sword in front of him.
He was dripping wet with water as he shook his head
"Water release gunshot..." He held his hand up and suddenly, four water clones rose out of the water and each one ran at the blob of water, Lee figured that it would take out one or two but at least one of them would get close enough for a strike. That was until the mouth returned and opened that something else came out. A torrent of water spewed forward and took the form of a dragon as Lee would speak the techniques name
"Water dragon bullet." And as he did, two of the clones were swept away in the dragon as the monster would fire a quick two gunshots to strike another clone.
But, one made it through and thrust the water sword into the monster but instead of it doing damage, the water clone was absorbed into the mass. Lee summoned four more clones and continued the onslaught. The clones would have to buy him time while he thought of something. Again, the same water moves were used but there was something off this time around but he couldn't put a finger on it. As the clones were destroyed, he summoned another set and they attacked an the same result happened...but the distance between the water dragon bullet and the gunshots were starting to grow the more water that was absorbed. That could be the key.
Lee spun his sword around and thrust it into the rock and leaned forward, placing his foot against the broadside of his sword as another gunshot was fired. Lee kicked off and ran low to the water, practically skating across the water, the explosions where the masses of water would have struck him if he was just a moment slower would blow up behind him. When he was just a few yards from the blob, he would slide to a stop and take in a deep breath
"Water release, water encampment wall!" After the words were spoken, water spewed from his mouth, encircling in front of him and right at the blob, the water absorbing into the monster, more and more and more still as the encampment wall did its job to a great degree. The gunshots slowly but surely came to a stop as the blob was just shifting around.
Lee would then crouch down and launch himself up into the air and come back down on top of his sword. He would rip it from the ground
"Flying swallow." Chakra would begin to flow through the blade at a rapid rate, to the point of it becoming visible and increasing its overall deadly length. Lee would then focus the remaining chakra into the soles of his feet and launch himself into the air and above the creature, just to bring the sword straight down, cutting through the monster like a hot knife through butter till he splashed into the water.
He soon resurfaced onto a rock and pulled himself up, looking to see the monster, now solid and split in two. He would now have to make his way back to the village to tell them his mission was a success... that was, after he rested for a bit.
