It was a quiet afternoon: warm, but not oppressively so. Days like this were good for going out, for seeing the sights. Or, in Kenchiro's case, for seeing the people. It did not involve a whole lot of preparation to do some people watching. All it took was a rooftop and a free evening, and Kenchiro had both. Of course, it was all harmless. At least, today it was. For the most part, the people did not notice his vigil, nor would they much care, and for those that did have the wherewithal to actually look up, his official Tsukigakure headband would quickly dispel any notion of the Genin's illegitimacy. For all they knew, he was keeping watch, or checking for some kind of crime in progress, or doing whatever else people thought ninja did around here on a daily basis.
All the little people, going around living their little lives, shuttling to and fro and back to to. It was like watching an ant farm, or a koi pond. Only the koi were people, and water was not really involved. Except for that lady carrying a jug of water... He was rambling. Mentally rambling. Did that count as rambling? This was what Kenchiro loved about people watching. It was just the thing to shut his brain off, for good and for ill. Mostly for good. You know, probably.
Actually, now that he thought about it, it was probably good that he had time to shut his higher functions off. Had he had full use of his brain, he would probably be thinking about a hundred different things. Like, what he was going to do for rent this month. Of course, he had that thought every month, and he was getting tired of crossing that territory. It always leads to the same three thoughts. Dread at having to consider another grunt mission, questioning whether or not there's a faster way to get things done and, again, remarking to oneself that the store owner down the street never locks his second story windows and has quite a pretty set of antique statuettes that might fetch a nice price.
And now he was thinking again. Kenchiro sighed. So much for shutting off.
