| First Name: Shojiro Last Name: Chiroyun Alias: The Centurian - The Dictionary - The Library - The Ancient Gender: Male Age: 153 Height: 5'9" Weight: 168 Birthday: ♐ Nov 25 Sexuality: Straight Relationships: Well Affiliated With All Those Within Shippugakure Affiliation: Shippugakure Rank: Seinin Element(s): Fuuton, Doton, Suiton Specialization(s): Ninjutsu, Ijutsu, Taijutsu Personality: Shojiro very much maintains a rather youthful glow about him, in his old age, he's not lost much more than a lick of his humorous personality. Due to his experience, his expressions have faded a bit more, becoming more stern. His jokes are more tasteful, sometimes too high brow for his audience. Also, due to a long life, he's attained the knowledge many thought to be lost. Shoji has changed quite a bit as well. While his old self over a hundred years prior was a very happy-go-lucky guy who pretty much jumped in head-first to everything, he is now instead quite a cryptic and hard-to-reach fellow. Often times he just outright refuses to do things for other people. While he may not have aged, he sometimes acts just akin to some old codger, which he doesn't mind being called, he enjoys when people acknowledge his age for once. He's a cool guy though, and isn't particularly mean, just stubborn. When in the heat of a situation, he's known to make rash decisions. Because of his knowledge of many ancient things, he's very information sensitive, meaning he knows exactly when people are trying to get information out of him, to an almost paranoid degree. Whether or not he leaks it is totally up to him in most cases. He's not one to negotiate with terrorists: People who blackmail him, kidnap kids or friends, or threaten to do something for the sake of getting their way, are dealt with swiftly and harshly. Shoji, being the only one left from a great age of shinobi has a hardened sense of morals. He knows what is right and wrong for the most part, and follows his beliefs until they take him no further. He isn't afraid of death. Death was an established welcome visitor long ago. While age won't take him, he refuses to live forever. Of course, he's also not simply going to fall over and perish. Shojiro lives for the excitement of the shinobi lifestyle. He always has and always will. When presented with a combat situation, which generally is either related to a mission, war, or petty scuffle brought on by a misunderstanding at a bar, he will often end it within one or two blows, for efficiency's sake. Sometimes though, he'll make it fun, though that's mostly for the sake of fairness. Handicaps are common in a bar fight, in other words. When ending a fight in one or two blows isn't an option, he's much more clever than his initial fighting style would let on. Shojiro's lifetime of shinobi life has left him with having seen damn near everything a shinobi can do. He's fought his way through thick and thin, dark and light, fire and ice, and all the things betwixt. While there are some things, generally related to new-age blood lineages, that he hasn't seen before, you can trust he knows how to deal with any number of shadow clones, lava golems, or crystal ice mirrors. When people are sad he tends to make an attempt to cheer them up for one reason or another. This entails telling jokes, informing them of fun information, or even just doing something outright silly. This is, of course, when he's being friendly. Foes in combat do not receive such a luxury, as their sadness likely no longer matters to him. He doesn't make emotional connections to people he's at war with, after all, that much is silly and for children. Lastly, his leadership skills are completely sharpened from a hard life of living between wars. Shojiro has seen the effects of every war since he's been born, and has put a great deal of research into strategy and economics. Half due to boredom, half due to necessity. He's pretty great at free-form strategic thinking, especially on his feats. Some people claim that his mind thinks of the most astounding strategies when he has no time to think about them. His long-term strategic thinking needs a lot of work though, as he overthinks things and specifies too many things, and everything that can go wrong will go wrong, so he's not a good war-strategist or anything like that. Likes: Laughter, A Good Read, A Mission That Strikes His Interest Dislikes: Those Who Mock Others, Moles (As in people who hand out secret info to the country's enemies), and Most of Politics. Motivation: Well he originally became a ninja to avoid the boring life of a librarian, and not too much has changed. If any further motivations were to be needed, it would likely be his unwillingness to live forever and his lust for information. Fears: Oil (Which is less of a fear now than it was before) Chiroyun Clan Bloodline Name: Shikigami no Mai Bloodline Ability: Paper Manipulation The people of this clan are generally known to be able to manipulate paper, create paper, become paper. People of this clan can make paper into a lethal weapon. It also seems that when they become paper, they also become ageless as a result. People of this clan are immortal towards age, so they cannot die like that. Location: Scattered (Mostly Gathered Now Shippugakure) Clan History: Originally a nameless clan which originated from a pair of librarian siblings who merely wished to protect their treasured books, the name Shojiro Chiroyun had become world famous through his life as a Shinobi, becoming far more known for its combat practicality now than its use for organizing the Dewey Decimal system. Over the past few dozen years, Shojiro has been slowly gathering members of this clan to his hometown, these people looking for guidance in the way of the Shikigami no Mai. Due to this much occurring, he is known as the head of the Chiroyun clan, and is thusly a world-renowned member of the clan. Shojiro, pretty much unable to turn away people who are by all rights his family, has allowed this much to develop, and has helped to train the newest generation, and with everyone taking his name, he decided they were the Chiroyun clan, against some of the funny ideas for a clan names he'd gotten. History: - Early Life/Academy/Genin Arc:
Shojiro was born in a small family of four people as the older sibling. From about age three he was taught how to manipulate paper. He used to be a cocky little bastard, because he was already so ahead combat-wise. He grew to enjoy excitement and combat and eventually, when he was 12 was given the choice, become a librarian or become a ninja. Because of his newfound enjoyment of fighting he chose the latter.
He struggled a little bit with actually learning to control chakra outside of paper, because he was so used to it. However as an academy student he was already knowing of the three basic jutsu, placed into paper form, however that wasn't good enough. Thusly he found himself in the endless struggle of learning the basic ninjutsu for real.
Months later he managed to attain the status of 'acceptable' and graduated ninja academy, moving on to become a pivotal member of team DSTR (pronounced Disaster), consistant of team leader Daisuke Yurameshi the Blue Explosion, Shojiro Chiroyun, the paper user, Teo Radom, a general whiz kid in the Fire Nature of chakra, and Renka Edrick, from the Kage's clan at the time. DSTR was a very interesting team to say the least, as Shojiro managed to graduate just before the assault of various demons and such from whatever odd rift opened up to cause that.
Team DSTR was sent to handle the ongoings of a cove of fishermen being assailed randomly by kappa and a tengu-type demon. This made their living difficult as they were gambling each time they reeled in the line or net. Team DSTR met this threat with much prejudice as Shipuugakure was on high alert with these demons to begin with. The Tengu Demon, known by the fishermen as El Cazador, was a particularly annoying threat. Primarily because he was airborne where the majority of targets were ground level and below.
For their first mission, Team DSTR had a pretty good run. El Cazador managed to escape their clutches. Daisuke could have taken him down, but Renka was in danger and he needed to take his aim off of the Tengu to aim at the kappa that threatened said girly girl. However Shojiro managed to avert the disaster himself with his paper shuriken technique, defeating the Kappa with much ease. Not saying much for the Kappa, which had her but lacked the appropriate follow-through.
Sadly Daisuke was left without killing a darn thing, having handled El Cazador for the battle's duration. The body count was D0 S4 T6 R2. Shoji failed to outshine Teo, but Renka wasn't totally useless, making him the average between the two. Because of this event though, Shojiro was rather selected as the 'sensei's pet' of the group. It was only fitting; he totally KS'd the team leader, and saved his team mate in one use of some appropriately sharpened paper. That's a feat enough to get you permitted into the village. He got some unwanted recognition from it though, a large number of Jounin would pal around with him in the off time, talking about how he managed to take the kill from the legendary Blue Explosion. Like, he was seriously a part of the family with some of these jounin who were waiting for someone to outdo that guy just one time. Not to mention that he was totally cool anyways, and could trade jokes with the upper class comedians of the world.
Still, it wasn't a terrible deal to be completely honest. He got something out of Daisuke that hasn't been seen in years since he developed the Chakra Bomb technique. This thing was respect. Shojiro was known at that point throughout the village as the Young Ace of Shippuugakure. A cool title at the time, though undeserved really. Still, team DSTR was accepted for missions out of their usual range of doability letting them go on more hardcore demon hunts that they were doing before. This warranted more hardcore training from Daisuke. It was then that Shojiro was taught more on the complexities of chakra like shaping and nature. He learned about how to enhance his chakra reserves and efficiency with simple training methods. Shojiro learned about this, but hardly retained the info. It was when Renka berated him for not capturing the essence of it, and Teo suggesting he take notes, that he realized what he could do. He developed a technique he calls and called Paper Memory. Designed on completely memorizing imperfections in paper he could absolutely recall anything on paper he's touched.
- The Library and DSTR-ous End:
This Paper Memory Technique involved the use of his predosposition to wind nature chakra to puff a nice even wind across a page of paper and immediately allowed him to feel the contents and stored them directly into his mind. This was literally considered what was probably the smartest jutsu in Ninja history, allowing him to learn anything and everything that has been written within the time it would take most other ninja to, say, shoot a fireball. The collective works of Shakespeare? In one book? Sure!
Once this jutsu was crafted Shojiro immediately took to learning all the secrets any books had to offer in the local libarary area. He had so many books memorized in his free time, he earned the name, 'The Library'. He managed to become totally useful in translating the common demon language within the tomes into the common language, allowing for people to have learned how to defeat the demon threat with more ease, and even attained further knowledge of demon anatomy. All in the free time he had between Demon Slaying missions. Meanwhile team DSTR was probably the best general Demon Slaying team Shipuugakure could even think of. Being sent to slay more and more deadly and dangerous demons, Shojiro eventually happened upon the perfect info. Closing the rift.
It took slaying a very particular and powerful demon, along with all of his equally and sometimes more powerful demon Horcrux-type deals which rendered him immortal until they were slain. Team DSTR was sent to deal with the main demon, while several small teams and powerful individual units, including the Kage himself, were deployed to hunt and kill the horcruxes. The demon, of course was none other than El Cazador, which wasn't his real name, but names held too much power and Shojiro couldn't find grimoires with his actual name in them. Team DSTR was rather well off with the fight by then, except for the fact that the Tengu was a complete and utter jerk for the whole fight, and refused to fight fairly. Once all the Horcrux demons were felled, the Tengu was rendered mortal. This succesz lasted for about a minute before the Tengu, using its one-Horcrux-a-day deal to turn Daisuke into his Horcrux. This was immediately referred to as the biggest dick move in the whole war.
Despite the circumstances, Daisuke was ecstatic about the situation. He got to finally test out how effective his Ultimate Jutsu was against demons. His ultimate jutsu which would immortalize his name forever as the Blue Explosion. The Blue Explosion Jutsu was simply a fatal advancement of his Chakra Bomb Jutsu, utilizing his pure, unshaped, unrefined chakra within his body to detonate himself and his foe in a brilliant explosion which could purge a large city. The rest of Team DSTR would be made to evacuate the area. An explosion almost 15 KM wide made up of Blue Energy that was chakra went off, dazzling the whole of Shipuugakure, and knocking those not quite far away enough onto their rears. Daisuke had sacrificed himself for the sake of defeating El Cazador once and for all. But what happened next was the biggest douchbaggery of it all. Daisuke wasn't the Horcrux, Shojiro was, and the Tengu bluffed. Thusly the Blue Explosion was in vain. A waste.
However, thanks to a certain jutsu Shojiro had learned, the only part of him that was a Horcrux was but a sheet of the thousands of sheets of paper that Shojiro consisted of. Shojiro destroyed that sheet of paper, having determined which it was with the simplicity of the Paper Memory Technique to find the piece with the imperfection on it. In other words, he read himself like a book and found the correct page and tore it out. Because of this, the Tengu was rendered mortal once again, and now called team STR (Star), Shojiro lead his team to victory, with the collaberation technique known as the Flash Paper Bomb Technique, involving infusing Wind nature into a Paper Shuriken to add cutting powrt, and igniting it for a flash explosion to annihilate the wound's ability to heal. This technique was the team's coup de grace for the battle, and their most beautiful combination until the team's seperation a few weeks later.
The only work of Team STR was the legendary work that ended the invasion of demons. Teo and Renka were killed in the subsequent war against Nadaregakure a couple years after that. It was in that war that Shojiro developed his art to the fullest, serving in the war as a great and loyal subordinate to the kage, Dominic Edrick, along with the trusted advisor Kamui Xanadu. By this point, he was officially a chuunin, but ranked in combat up there with those two, fully capable of killing members of the Akatsuki. While many just thought him a bookworm now, as he did very little around that 2 year timespan, but he was actually just memorizing jutsu from the Village's secret scrolls, and reading legends and tales of heroes about half as amazing as he was talked-up to be in the demon war.
- Nadaregakure War Arc:
Shojiro would participate in the war against Nadaregakure, a prime combatant in the whole shebang. Altogether, he probably had the second highest kill count in the whole war, not far behind Dominic, who got most of his kills from starting the war by wiping Kazangakure off the map. Shojiro was best known for his incredible solo defense of a prime stategic fort from a raid consisting of around 100 enemy shinobi from Nadaregakure and ex-Kazangakure. The raid itself was probably the most strategically perfect move of the war, but Shojiro, unfortunately for them, had a completely unfounded suspicion of the attack happening that night, and had volunteered to work on a holiday. It was thanks to this that Shippuugakure could move into Nadaregakure territory the following week.
Shojiro's lone stand against the raiding party was actually the stuff of legends too, having prepared paper all day for the situation. Ex-Nadaregakure legends tell of an immense white wall the size of a mountain which would wipe away the raiding party in a short instant. Those that lived to tell the tale were heavily scarred and traumatized. While Dominic Edrick may have wiped out Kazangakure within 10 minutes using a continuous stream of chakra that could have killed him had it not been for his sword, the Talon Blade, Shojiro wiped out 100 Chuunin and Jounin, combat ready soldiers within a few seconds using only paper, on the defensive. History books don't like to document this kind of stuff, because it sets unrealistic expectations for the chuunin.
Throughout the war, Shojiro was known for taking out several big names in the enemy ranks, including but not limited to: Drake 'Shocker' Doragonhato, known for his advanced lightning style techniques paired skillfully with his draconic transformations; Haruko Byoukin, also called the Virus of South, known for a particularly evil ninjutsu which let her merge her body with her enemy and take control; and Alphonse 'Full Metal' Tatsugi, who used chakra to break down and reconstruct things in the area, for devastating effect, and was also just a suit of armor. Shojiro's track record shows that if it weren't for him, Shippugakure probably would have taken 40% longer to win the war, due to unexpected raids, hell-tier fighters that would make some members of the Akatsuki quiver in their boots, and a relatively low information influx in comparison to what Shojiro could provide.
Shojiro was not only a very key soldier in the war, but was also a key information gathering unit as well. He'd often be sent on missions to take hold of strategic locations, and gather the information. Of course, like any smart military force, the Nadaregakure troops would generally pull out and burn their camp down starting with the information. But Shojiro was not stupid either, developing a Jutsu specifically for getting this information they so chose to hide, allowing him to reverse combust paper ashes back into paper. It was a brilliant move, and at almost all times, the war was in favor of Shippuugakure's troops, as the Nadaregakurian troops couldn't hide anything from them.
It would be a long war, but it was shortened greatly by the aid of Shojiro Chiroyun, the Library. His hand in the war was very much appreciated and he completely bypassed the rank of Special Jounin, all the way to Jounin.
- The Totally Canon Arc Where Shojiro Kills Dominic for Being A Prick:
As the Fubukikage of Hyougagakure would finish the war by deep-freezing Nadaregakure off the map, things in the world would become tense. Not just for the nations that remained, but for the nations that were rising as well. With Dominic Edrick in charge of Shippuugakure, and Tenzou in charge of Hyougagakure, the world was essentially in a perfect lock between two of the most deadly weapons born into mankind. Shojiro was also a highly feared individual, but he wasn't a warlike person in nature by that point in his life, content with being a general shinobi. However it wouldn't be long before these two Kage would become full of themselves, most especially Dominic, who appeared to hold Tenzou as his only ally anymore.
Soon, executions would begin happening within home. People who so much as spoke poorly as the old Umikage would be captured by some fanatical ninja or reported by some trembling civilian afraid of their own shadow in Shippuugakure. Seeing it as his duty, Shojiro would officially go missing ninja about 2 years after the war with Nadaregakure was over. In doing so he announced his secession from the village, forming a small faction of trusted war buddies, and taking the life of a Kamui Xanadu, who only fueled the self-obsession Dominic now held. The seasoned veterans, forming the group of missing ninjas known as Manako-Arashi (translating roughly to Eye of the Storm), would lead the nations of Shippuugakure and Hyougagakure to attack areas of each-other's land, by setting up huge rallies against them, and killing soldiers in various camps to capture attention.
It wouldn't take long before the Umikage came to take care of Shojiro himself, as it was very obvious from the beginning that Shojiro was the problem. The whole plan had come together at that battle. Shojiro, understanding Dominic's tendencies to try to uproot a problem by removing the initial source, would make himself look like public enemy number one, aiming to fight the Kage of his old village in the end. He couldn't say it was the brightest idea, but he knew the weakness of the Umikage in its whole. He relied too much on remaining within a set area, and he relied too much on a his Talon Blade preserving his life. So instead of letting him have those factors be his advantage, Shojiro made him suffer for his style. After all, where there's a method, there is a way to negate it.
The whole fight appeared to be a huge one-sided battle at first. Shojiro was being decimated at first, being forced to fully become paper for longer than he was actually fighting. This was a troublesome aspect of the combat that Shojiro predicted. Using the very basics, he merely set up paper clones to replace with every time he was hit, giving the appearance he was becoming paper after each attack hit him. However, it was instead chakra paper which, as the Talon Blade would pass through it, would eat whatever chakra was stored in the Talon Blade and then splitting in half, as Dominic was strongly known for his Wind Chakra Nature.
Shojiro would continue the battle by abusing Dominic's area of high-speed movement, which allowed him to move as if he was flashing around, using his Shunshins within Shunshins. This area was massive, which meant that he could have a lot of paper in the area. Funny how that worked out, as Shojiro got Dominic to place his area in a place where the landscape was made of about 80% paper. This area that Dominic was in became a cage, for the extremely large sum of chakra paper that Shojiro had crafted for the purpose of this battle. This sum made the mountain that the Raiding party faced look rather chumpish. The entirety of the paper would collapse in on the Umikage's area.
This brought on the wrath of Dominic the Trump card. Said Umikage would summon his Boss Dragon Summon, and that never bode well for countries that ticked Dominic off. Using the jutsu that would completely destroy the battlefield at the cost of his life, was the idea that Dominic held, knowing the Talon Blade would heal him. Shojiro would turn into paper and immediately evacuated the area in the cloud of paper that formed him looking no different than the cloud that had almost killed the Umikage. He escaped successfully, and Dominic would realize soon that his injuries weren't healing. As his body would become shredded by the backlash of his own technique, he noticed that his sword was coated with shiny silver chakra paper, the blade not charging.
Dominic would be atomized by his own chakra as the area below him was turned into 4/5th confetti, 1/5 atoms. Shojiro was victorious though he was not unscathed. His body covered in unsightly wounds from the battle due to just barely not escaping the full effect range, he needed several weeks of intense medical attention. While it was not for a long time that he would become recognized as one, Shojiro was a hero of Shippuugakure. About 8 years later, the new Umikage would finally accept the Manako-Arashi faction back into Shippugakure, as heroes, Shojiro being offered the position of Umikage himself. Shojiro would decline the offer, saying, "A truly great man doesn't accept rewards for his achievements. He only strives to achieve better ones, until he achieves something he can be proud of his whole life. I've got a long life to live before I can say I'm completely proud of what I've done. I'll take my reward in the prosperity of my people." This quote may be in the history books of Shippuugakure.
- Shojiro's Retirement and the Chiroyun Clan Arc:
After finally becoming a hero for being the first and only faction to defeat Shippuugakure in a war of any sort, Shojiro would decide to settle down for a while. He retired at the young age of 27, and merely focused on learning. Subscribing to magazines and authors of every sort, he'd spend the next 10 years of his life just reading, enjoying the country's culture, smelling the flowers for once in his life. Taking in the culture, it would be around this point that he was approached by a young orphan, by the name of Tomijo. The young boy was born with an affinity to controlling paper, much like Shojiro, and seeked the legendary ninja of paper out in hopes of learning to control his power.
Shojiro did not particularly care for kids, but seriously, he couldn't turn away the little guy; he was like 8 years old and went through more ass ache to find Shojiro than the retired ninja would have needed in the last 12 years to find anyone. So Shojiro would teach young Tomijo the ways of Shikigami no Mai. He found that Tomijo's knack for origami skills was actually quite amazing, and it was easy to teach the young boy to use the techniques of the bloodline. While he didn't teach him the True Form of it, Shojiro was impressive in teaching an 8 year old how to use a C-Rank jutsu and 2 D-Rank Jutsu before he'd even even gone to academy.
Tomijo wasn't the only one who seeked Shojiro, however. Soon it was a young scholar by the name of Kenta. Then a young flower peddler by the name of Kira. A street brawler named Hojo. A large number of people from every stretch of life one could imagine seeked out Shojiro, hoping to learn how to use their powers, and the more people that found him, the more people could find him. It wasn't long before Shojiro was the head of a clan that took on his name.
The Chiroyun Clan was officially registered as a Clan of Shippuugakure about 5 years into the Library's retirement. He'd received a stretch of land for his people to live on that wasn't his house, inclusive of a villa, with a training ground. Shojiro's family, as he liked to call them, would help him organize everything too, everyone in the Chiroyun clan was kind or helpful towards him, despite him being far from too old to do it himself.
Yes, he would teach everyone just about everything he knew, and was shocked how ingenuitive his family was. The Chiroyun Clan was a rather high-class clan in Shippugakure by three years of practical training after the Kamigami Villa was established, named by a democratic vote from the members, Shojiro didn't have much say in what they named it. His family was tight-knit, almost ridiculously so, all sharing a sense of humor, an enjoyment of learning things, and enjoyment of the creative process. Some had areas more than others but it was without a doubt, the most happy period of Shojiro's life outside of early childhood. RP Sample: Coryn was the next to arrive. He was surfing on a wild shark's head. He was laughing as it was not in control of its direction, Coryn was water manipulating the wave while the shark was struggling under his feet. He glared down at it like it was in trouble and the shark seemed to settle down a bit. Coryn knew how to treat sea creatures to get what he needed. As his wave crashed to shore, Coryn pushed off the shark and landed on the beach sealing up his happy little wave of water back into his gourd. "WOOHOO! BEACH PARTY!" he shouted a little too happy. He wore purple trunks with a blue tribal pattern, his unusually ripped chest exposed to sun. God forbid this image got a tan. He smiled and threw his gourd towards a palm tree, shouting, "Emo boy, catch!" Thomas sat under the tree for shade, he refused to remove his emo outfit and he didn't look like he was going to anytime soon. "Yeah yeah Aqua Man, with your almighty powers of the deep," Thomas said with extreme sarcasm in his voice, catching the gourd. Coryn laughed and then said, "And don't you forget it, lest you'll get a bath, and on this beach, that is a BIIIIG bath." Sighing while walking in just now, Haruken wore a black tank top with red trunks, wearing silver dog tags, like a soldier. "Alright how do I look?" he asked with a slight depression in his voice. At further examination, one could see that all of his limbs were assembled with slight indents and ball joints where he needed to move at. "You look like a puppet, as always," Coryn said. Coryn was the only one satisfied with the party's location. The other two in his party were sad. "Aww come on guys, lighten up a bit! It's a party!" Coryn demanded jokingly. Thomas scoffed, "I wanted to go to the one at the silver noon, it isn't scorching hot there." Haruken sighed and declared, "Ditto." Now they were bumming Coryn out. "Man, at least I let you guys come," he said with a sigh. "You mean dragged us along right?" Thomas said. "Not much difference you know," Coryn replied with a laugh. Coryn was still a little worried. Perhaps the party would be ruined again by that crazy angel, Sephiroth, like the last big party. Source: Ancient Member Face Claim: Aoba Seragaki -- DRAMAtical Murder |
