Village News
The islands in Ocean Country have been celebrating the arrival of the next Umikage, Saizo. The long bridge leading to SHIPPUUGAKURE NO SATO has been closed for outsiders because they wish to celebrate this moment with Ocean Country natives only.
As usual, the Storm Country has been hosting the Asgard Games to welcome their Kanetsukage, Cornelia. It's a double special occasion because Cornelia is also the first female Kanetsukage. She has been picked for her courage, loyalty and outstanding power by the BOUFUUGAKURE NO SATO elders.
Not only that, but the Cherry Blossom Country has become relieved as well. It seems that everyone is slowly picking up after the war now. KUSAMURAGAKURE NO SATO proudly presented their new Sakurakage, Altair.
TSUKIGAKURE NO SATO is still thriving on the merchants coming in and out. They have not experienced anything special lately. Their wealth has remained the same as they were not forced to invest into shinobi unlike the others.
On the cold isles of the Blizzard Country, HYOUGAGAKURE NO SATO has still refused to create a free traveling policy. Some habits never change. To protect their traditions, they have even warned outsiders to not interfere with their matters.
Now that everyone is picking up again, who will come out on top?

Name: Hope this isn't too Boaring
Difficulty: C
Location: Shippuugakure
Reward: 15,000 Ryo
Experience: 50 Experience
Objective: Kill or scare away the boar that's wrecking the fields.
Description: A local farm on the island is issuing a bounty for anyone who is able to get rid of a boar that is causing trouble, eating up the crops and scaring the livestock. The boar is bigger then the average boar, being similar to a small adult bear in size and will charge you on sight and it is quite durable, so strategy is encouraged. Hope its not to unboarable.

========================================================

Koten Tekishijin was at it again. This dude had really felt like he was rolling, and growing stronger as each fading moment passed by, each breath was inhaled, each thought discarded or meditated on. This particular mission he had taken was requesting that he help the families on the island who are farmers. They’ve been terrorized and losing valuable crops because of a wild boar. Their livestock had also been getting scared by the wild boar when it comes around. More than likely the boars aggression was beyond belief and the docile farm animals didn’t want any parts of that. Tekishijin, began to think about this more as he walked away from the Kage Tower, just having received acceptance for this mission towards the docks at the harbor. From there he would catch a ferry to the island and settle this matter, once and for all, or rather at least for the time being. Tekishi surmised that if a wild boar had been on the island already, they were more than likely breeding there and it would always be more wild boar’s to slay. Hopefully after killing or scaring however many of them away they would have gotten the point but that had appeared not to be the case. Tekishi knew he wasn’t the only one to take up this mission at least once before, and he knew that he wouldn’t be the last.

{You see…the wild boar’s have it quite different than the livestock do,} he started both to himself and to the always listening Nibi no Kani who, fortunately for Koten Tekishijin, has been relaxing much more recently and not making a big deal out of everything or just simply antagonizing the hell out of its vessel. [Uhm hmm.] {The livestock, they are like you for instance. I give you a place to live, and sustenance to eat. If you were a thing to be bathed and had to change your bedding every now and then, I would do it,} continued Tekishijin. The thought was an hilarious one to him, at least enough to get him to giggle out loud. [No...no...no...that is so untrue. I would be the wild boar of course, causing as much damage and destruction to you and all the other civilians and citizens of your fair country as if you all were the livestock. You are the ones who live in the disillusion of safety behind the village walls, and the walls of your individual houses.] The Nibi no Kani, of course, saw things differently.

{But aren’t you the one hiding safely within the walls of my physical body?} Tekishi asked.
The Nibi no Kani answered with silence. [Yes, but…]
{But what? It is true! Even for myself it is true. You could have went even further in your analogy to say that all humans hide in their physical bodies as well. That is the only thing that makes us human after all.} As he walked, the shops and houses on either side of the road seemed to grow taller and slouch forward, blocking out what little of the sun did break through and reflect off the mist that filled the village with a sort of glow rather than the blessings of full natural sunlight, he looked down at his hands, spinning them over a few times. {If it weren’t for this flesh and blood that I’m locked in, I would be just like you. Raw chakra, raw spirit.} The Nibi no Kani had grown tired of the conversation it seemed, and apparently Tekishi’s words had given him something to think about.

There was no need for Tekishi to continue and compare himself to the wild boar, he figured that it would be of little relevance and a waste of time and thought energy. He had become quite adept at swiveling his shoulders diagonally back and forth as he played bumper cars without the protective rubber or car through the streets of the Harbor down to the dock where he caught the ferry across to the island in need of his professional help. Being a shinobi was more of a profession and career track than anything else if you thought about it. You were given ranks like the military men, each mission that you accomplished you were paid for like a mercenary. You sort of sworn to lay down your life for the villagers, not so much as by verbally speaking an oath in front of any particular audience, but by your actions and commitment to the village.

“All aboard! Alllllllll aaaaboooooarrrrdddd! The ferry leaves in two more minutes! If you’re going back to the island, come now or wait another hour for the next ride! Come on, come on, come on, time is a wastin’.”
Tekishi dug some ryo out of his pocket and handed it up to the older gentleman. “Ticket for one please,” he said with a smile. The old man took the money and helped the boy aboard. There was no ramp. He found a seat and sat in it, crossing his legs as he did so and resting his head back against the rod that supported the roof of the ferry. He closed his eyes and became one with the motion of the ferry as it rocked back and forth for the moment before they set sail towards the island. He sat on the port of the ship, at the end of the bench closest to where the old man was helping the passengers on. Before he knew it he had dozed off.

~~~
“Sonny, get up. We are here.”
Tekishi fidgeted awake, looking around he saw nobody else but the old man that ran the ferry. He grabbed a hold of the pole he had leaned up against to help himself up. “Thank you for the ride, I will see you in another hour,” said Tekishi as he took his first step down onto the island. For some reason he thought that they would be riding through storms and that there would be a lot more hazards along the way, but his body had rejected and denied any truth to these, even if they were, by falling asleep. He had been in the dream world for the past thirty minutes and although that was okay, he may have missed out on something.
Unfolding the mission papers with the information he needed on it, he found the point of interest on the map, acquired his geographical boundaries with the small compass he carried with him for this exact reason, and then head on over to the farm.
As he walked he took notice of the layout of the island. Though it had seemed like a small island the farm land seemed to roll back to the horizon. The small hills and valleys seemed to give more space for the crops but Tekishi was uncertain of that assumption. Eventually the farm came up on the horizon and the family was already in the midst of fighting back the wild boar that had been terrorizing them. It was sad to see their motley crew of old and young trying to stop the over powering boar with their pitch forks and other farming tools that could be used as a means of defense.
The boar and the family were currently standing at a stand still, the boar pawing at the dirt before it charged at them again, missed and slid one hundred and eight degrees to a stop to start pawing at the dirt again. {This boar isn’t playing,} thought Tekishi as he closed his eyes, focused and made a single hand seal which had shunshin’ed him in front of the family. They all squealed in surprise of Tekishi’s arrival in a plume of smoke which quickly dissipated into the atmosphere, albeit relieved that their protection had finally arrived.
“Stand back! I got it from here,” he shouted over his shoulder as he continued to make a few more hand seals. He had to be quick in his discernment, finding a happy medium between protecting the family and the farm; therefore, he couldn’t use katon jutsu otherwise he would burn more than just crops and land. He would be burning all of the families hard work, hopes and dreams of the next harvest, which he could not do for the sake of his own mental health. Nobody wants to carry that guilt on their shoulders, but this boar seemed to think differently. It charged again as the chakra scalpel formed around his right hand. Tekishi had to time this just right, otherwise he would be gored and ripped in half. The boar held it’s head low and it’s tusks swung and curled upward with a menacing glare to them. The ground shook beneath their feet as it charged ahead, closer, ever so closer; then, boom. It happened.
In the blink of an eye Tekishi had ducked and swung his right arm under and up in the form of an uppercut as the Boar had raised its head to strike with its tusks. The shadow of death now descended upon them all as the spirit of the boar raised and lifted out of its body. As Tekishi knelt there beside the boar, he said a prayer over the dead as though it were a sacrifice, unknowing of where his present affinity of spirituality came from.
Tekishi disengaged the chakra scalpel and kept his hand over the wound. In the shadow of the boar’s weight Tekishi’s hands glew with a green aura of chakra as he sealed the wound quickly, only letting a few drops of blood stain the soil. “Do you guys have any rope?” The father nodded, placing the pitchfork down and running to the barn to get the rope Tekishi asked for. As he waited to return he asked the mother if they ate boar and would like to keep it for that purpose. She said no they don’t eat the meat but if he would be kind to tie it up and take it to the back of the barn they would be able to skin it and utilize the hide. The tusks were also very resourceful she mentioned. The father came back and Tekishi did as the mother asked of him.
Before he left the house he prayed with the family, as they requested. They recognized his family name immediately and were so happy to hear that the Koten family was doing so well and still pumping out babies. Tekishi couldn’t help himself from laughing when they mentioned that, but it was a moment Tekishi would most certainly remember.
He declined their offer for him to stay and eat with them, and let them know that he would come visit every now and then regardless of whether or not another wild boar was causing trouble on their farm. The additional time spent with the family had pushed Tekishi up closer to the hour mark and so when he returned to the dock on the island, the ferry was already there unloading the inhabitants of the island that were returning from doing chores and shopping at the Harbor. {Today was a good day,} he thought as he climbed aboard the ferry and reclaimed his original seat. He didn’t go to sleep this time, instead staying awake to think about all of the generations of his family and how many more would come, and if it would ever stop. Looking at the waves he was given the sense that it wouldn’t and that eventually he would have a child and bring the next generation into this world.
Although he was still a young man, and felt unprepared for this, he knew eventually this would become a matter of importance. He hoped that whatever woman he found he fell deeply in love with her, and that their lives would grow together prosperously. The meditative and spiritual state of the day seemed to overcome him, and he closed his eyes and prayed on the matter.
