The islands in Ocean Country have been celebrating the arrival of the next Umikage, Saizo. The long bridge leading to SHIPPUUGAKURE NO SATO has been closed for outsiders because they wish to celebrate this moment with Ocean Country natives only.
As usual, the Storm Country has been hosting the Asgard Games to welcome their Kanetsukage, Cornelia. It's a double special occasion because Cornelia is also the first female Kanetsukage. She has been picked for her courage, loyalty and outstanding power by the BOUFUUGAKURE NO SATO elders.
Not only that, but the Cherry Blossom Country has become relieved as well. It seems that everyone is slowly picking up after the war now. KUSAMURAGAKURE NO SATO proudly presented their new Sakurakage, Altair.
TSUKIGAKURE NO SATO is still thriving on the merchants coming in and out. They have not experienced anything special lately. Their wealth has remained the same as they were not forced to invest into shinobi unlike the others.
On the cold isles of the Blizzard Country, HYOUGAGAKURE NO SATO has still refused to create a free traveling policy. Some habits never change. To protect their traditions, they have even warned outsiders to not interfere with their matters.
Now that everyone is picking up again, who will come out on top?

Michio Jiin was going to train harder than usual today since he had let himself start far too late. His training goal for the day was to enter one cavern and exit through another opening without touching the icy floor or adhering himself to the wall using his chakra. If all went according to plan then he was going to navigate entirely through leaps from one frigid wall to the next until he found the light of the sun again. He also hoped that if he kept his steps soft and refrained from using his fire techniques for light or for warmth then he would be able to make this trip without disturbing any of the wildlife below him. Seals, and other animals could be spotted down there and he didn't want to harm them or risk being harmed himself.
Michio took a running start and leaped to the right side of the cavern and the instantly positioned himself to kick again and fly over to the left, then making sure to land feet first again so that he could leap back over to the right side of the cavern. He had to lean back and kick forward, like he was on a swing set, toward the middle of each jump to make sure that he landed feet first and didn't just slam some part of him against the wall then fall down in horrible agony with nobody knowing where he is. What a dark thought that was! But it was fitting, he told himself, since it was such a dark place and nobody was there to be brought down. He hoped only that it wasn't true about animals reading thoughts or emotions. The last thing he would want from this trip was to know that he was responsible for depressing a seal. If it were an endangered seal that'd probably count as illegal.
Going in it didn't take him long to see the wild life. There were adorable, chubby seals around the entrance to the chilly cave. Michio had even seen a few white birds on the outside of the tunnel. Michio assumed that somewhere along the wall of the village or maybe even farther away that they had nests or were in the process of building their nests. All of these arctic animals white bodies made amazing camouflage when they were out on the ice, but in the pitch black darkness of the cavern it made it so that they stood out very clearly.
Each leap to the next side of the frosty cavern left him about fifteen feet deeper than he was before. That means that every time he returned to the right he had gone a whole thirty feet. The constant back and forth was troubling because it meant that his sense of direction would definitely be partially compromised, but luckily there hadn't been any turns so far.It had been one straight shot with little to no light but what was trailing in from the entrance. Nearly all of that was a thing of the past by the time he had gotten about two hundred fifty feet into the cavern. This was still absolutely fine.

Michio continued deeper and deeper, reaching less traveled parts of the caverns. The light of the occasional white animal's reflective hide was the only light that he had, and even that was greatly thinning out at this point. His feet were now slipping because it was getting entirely impossible to know for sure where the wall was. He had not yet hit the ground but was very worried that such a thing was going to happen soon and did not much care for the thought. It was sad what he was having to do right now and he felt a little bit ashamed for it, but what needed to be done needed to be done and that was as simple as that. He raised his hand as he moved from wall to wall and his palm ignited, not catching on fire, but becoming fire itself.
He could no longer hop from one side to the other and grabbed a stone that poked out from the wall. His new view made him thankful for his ability. Had he waited any longer he would have thrown himself into a wall covered in spikes that were completely invisible but were now glimmering in his light. They were gorgeous but they so quickly could have proven deadly had he taken even one more leap. "That would have been very unfortunate," Michio whispered to himself before he turned around. He kept his lantern lit as he went back the way he came. In two ways he had failed his self assigned mission. He had to turn back instead of find an exit that connected to the entrance and he had to use his Fanoos. There was a degree of self loathing, but that was only going to push him to move farther in the future and work even harder than before.
The view on the way back was definitely different than on the way in. He was also astonished by how many white animals in the black cavern he had missed, and how much he had missed over all. There were gorgeous glittering stones that could easily have been of precious value or just bits of ice that looked slightly different from the rest of it all. The eyes of seals and other forms of wildlife followed him on his way out. It was an odd combination of disturbing and endearing. He loved it. When he got outside a little baby seal was behind him; it looked like the little creature had followed him out. "That is just adorable," he said more to himself than to the little animal.

Jutsu Used:
Name: Fanoos Canon/Custom: Custom Rank: D Type: offensive Element: fire Range: the user's palm Specialty: ninjutsu Duration: three turns max Cooldown: two turns Description: The palm or palms of the user light up in a low heat flame. It was originally used as a lantern for members of the clan to get around safely at night, and then got a myriad of other uses. It's like having a lighter for your hand. If used with a grab, a palm strike, or an open hand smack then it can do a quick first degree burn. It can also ignite some things: paper, brush, cloth, and other similar things. The user is only able to ignite smaller and already dry, flammable things.
