Village News
The islands in Ocean Country have been celebrating the arrival of the next Umikage, Saizo. The long bridge leading to SHIPPUUGAKURE NO SATO has been closed for outsiders because they wish to celebrate this moment with Ocean Country natives only.
As usual, the Storm Country has been hosting the Asgard Games to welcome their Kanetsukage, Cornelia. It's a double special occasion because Cornelia is also the first female Kanetsukage. She has been picked for her courage, loyalty and outstanding power by the BOUFUUGAKURE NO SATO elders.
Not only that, but the Cherry Blossom Country has become relieved as well. It seems that everyone is slowly picking up after the war now. KUSAMURAGAKURE NO SATO proudly presented their new Sakurakage, Altair.
TSUKIGAKURE NO SATO is still thriving on the merchants coming in and out. They have not experienced anything special lately. Their wealth has remained the same as they were not forced to invest into shinobi unlike the others.
On the cold isles of the Blizzard Country, HYOUGAGAKURE NO SATO has still refused to create a free traveling policy. Some habits never change. To protect their traditions, they have even warned outsiders to not interfere with their matters.
Now that everyone is picking up again, who will come out on top?

Michio the delivery boy! Empty
PostSubject: Michio the delivery boy!   Michio the delivery boy! EmptyMon Jun 08, 2015 2:25 am

Michio Jiin was on a mission to assist the owner of one of the local flower shops. He had been doing grocery runs for a long time and he was going to do his best to apply all of the rules do doing that as well as he could to this mission. The first rule: he would have to move as quickly as he possibly could without harming the product, but also make sure not to arrive early. The second rule: upon landing at the door he could make sure that he did not appear in any way exhausted, aggravated, or unhappy because it would make the customer feel uncomfortable about making the order which is horrible for profits.

A large basket with five bouquets was handed to him and he bowed down to the shop owner, thanking her for the chance to serve the community. This was sure to be an exciting job. Flowers have had an odd almost altering affect on humans since as long as both flowers and humans have existed. Because of this they were an important part of many different facets  of human life. They had romantic implications above all else, but that was far from their only purpose and romance alone was a diverse enough thing for him to be sure that each delivery would be different than the last.

His first stop was at a school. This delivery was not one of the romantic kind, but it was something  much sweeter and more simple than that. The teacher was going to be on a sabbatical with her pregnancy so her students all chipped in from things like allowance money and money from odd jobs done around the home. The moment he knocked at the door a child ran up, welcomed him in, and took him to the teacher. "Look, Mrs. Smith! We got you a gift!" the young boy yelled. She appeared to be pretty far into the pregnancy, a few months at the least with a belly that one would refer to as "showing." This young lady was showing as well as glowing. She was a conservatively dressed woman in her early twenties. The class was full of students who appeared to be between the ages of nine and eleven. It was really impressive to Michio, not only that these young children could have organized such a thing, but that they had the compassion and creativity to come up with such a thing. It was truly a lovely sight. Normally Michio would have been rushing to the door and to deliver the next bouquet, but his next delivery was a block over and in thirty minutes. He decided that nobody would be harmed if he decided to stay and watch for a little while, no more than five minues, before he took off.

Michio walked away from that encounter with one less bouquet of flowers and a heart now brimming with feel goods the likes of which a man rarely gets to feel in day to day life. Little did he know how much he was going to need those up beat feelings for the next stop on his delivery rout. He would also be very grateful for the slow stroll he allowed himself between stops, but also wish so much that he could have gone on a much, much longer one before he knocked on the next door. It was large, well decorated, well kept, and had an extremely distinguished air, but Michio still could not brush off the feeling that there was a darkness there that he did not want to walk into. All the same, he rapped his knuckles against the solid, wood door with a smile as he anticipated his next customer.

Michio was surprised that the second still was not a romantic gesture. Much like the first, this delivery had to do with a departure; however, this one was far more permanent and the children there were in no way cheerful or energetic like the ones only a few buildings away. It was something obvious, but it also came as a shock to him that sorrow and joy could exist so close to one another. And this, though it is hard to say for sure that there could ever really be one, was not an ordinary gathering of mourners. The mode of dress and volume of tears suggested that this was definitely a crowd who just left a funeral. Michio did not recognize the family, but he quickly felt their suffering. This was not the unknown distant relative whose last will and testament extended more by blood than by association, or some terribly hateful and horribly judgmental type that everybody was secretly itching to watch get buried; this was obviously the loss of an incredible individual who touched the lives of others in a very positive way. Michio did not even have to know the person to very deeply feel the sadness of the family. Instead of looking sad, his smile softened as he extended the bouquet to the elderly woman who opened the door.
"I hope that these can help in some way to lift your spirits," Michio said to the frail woman in a soft voice. She accepted it from him and then read the card that came with it. After that she held it to her chest and the sobbing slowed down for a moment.

Michio didn't know what was going on, but also had no intention on figuring that out. Before the woman was done hugging her bouquet he had closed the heavy, solid, wooden door as quietly as he possibly could and started to be truly grateful that all of the customers paid ahead of time and that tips were not customary in this area. Running from the home would have looked unprofessional on top of terribly insensitive, and Michio Jiin would not be appearing to be or being either of those things today or any time soon. Luckily, as a shinobi, he did have one way to get a long distance quickly without looking like either of those things. The Shunshin no Jutsu, or the Body Flicker Technique, was going to be his ticket out of that horrible, horrible situation. He did a very breif hand sign with his pointer finger and his middle finger both up before it appeared that he was magically whisked away to his next location. Instead of looking dishonorable or inconsiderate, he got to look awesome, which is good for the business instead of horrible for it. His destination was not far away. It was just a few buildings down that same road and then a few meters to the left the moment he hit a turn. Michio did not suspect that anybody there would check, and he highly doubted that the old woman would go as far as to opening her door back up to check in both directions to see where her timid carrier with the flaming red hair had gone off to, but as a ninja he took great pride in his ability to perfectly ninja vanish.

The next stop that he made finally took him to the expected rout of a romantic encounter, but it still did next to nothing to lift his rather downed mood. All it did for that was help by taking his mind off what was going on earlier. He took a few steps further after the warp and then found himself at the address he was told to deliver the bouquet of flowers to. Though the address on the home clearly matched what was on his list, he felt that this was not the right place; it could not be if anything in today was going to be happy.

There was an extremely somber and horribly haggard looking man sitting in the lawn and smoking a cigarette. His left hand, which was the one holding the smoke, was shaking horribly. His right hand was hidden behind his bangs; he appeared to be sobbing into it. Michio stood over him for a few moments hoping that he would be noticed without trying to call attention to himself, but quickly gave up on that as he saw that the man was very deep in his emotional episode and cleared his throat. The man quickly got up and greeted Michio when he heard and realized he was where he was.
"I am sorry, kid. I didn't see ya there. Are you the flower guy?" the man asked with a hand outstretched. Michio shook the man's hand and nodded to confirm that he was indeed the "flower guy" that he was waiting for.

The man with the blood shot eyes and clearly broken heart gestured for Michio to follow him up to the door.
"Honey, it's me!" the obviously desperate man called out, "I have a surprise for you!" Michio did not often allow himself to notice how attractive an individual of either gender was as it belittled the achievements and other positive attributes of the person being noticed in a purely superficial way, but the woman who opened that door had an overwhelming that Michio would not soon forget. He even had a shameful thought that the man who led him to the door was not in her league. He quickly shook the thought away, but could not shake away the stunning affect she had on him. She was a small, slender girl with very dark features. Her features were dark and she appeared to be upset, but she still lit up the area with her presence. She wore simple clothing: grey shorts and a plain, white T-shirt, but draped over her body they were more gorgeous than the finest of robes. The depressed man pulled the flowers away from Michio and handed them over to the girl.

This was not going to be like the last time. The moment that the roses were pulled away from Michio he made sure to slowly start to back away. He was not going to be sucked into whatever this was going to be, and he had a bad feeling that things for the couple weren't going to go well for just one bouquet.

His next stop was a good deal further away from the one before it than any of the previous three had been from one another. It was in a rural area along the outskirts of the village instead of a business or residential part of the village like all of the previous stops had been. This seemed like a fantastic place to be after going and seeing so many sad things; the air was crisp and seemed more free of pollutants than the already pretty clean air of the village hidden in the glaciers. Rural areas within cold areas compared to very close urbanized or suburban areas were colder in spite of how very close they were, or maybe that was only Michio's imagination acting up. That type of thing was liable to happen when he was alone and left to his thoughts.

After about thirty minutes or so, no more than half an hour, Michio arrived at a small and humble home near the royal wall surrounding the village. It looked old, but not in the sense of some ancient mansion or castle. It was only appealing in the sense that it was so quaint that it would probably be hard not to fall in love with if one found themselves having to live in it. It could also probably make a visitor feel better about whatever their living arrangements were. Michio suddenly felt a whole lot more thankful about his own luxurious upbringing.

Michio came up to the porch, which was little more than bunch of boards held above the ground by blocks of concrete. The screen door, the screen of which was in terrible tatters, and the actual door allowing one entrance to the home were both left hanging open. Still, Michio did not want to seem impolite while he was representing a local business. He was supposed to support those, not damage their reputations by making silly mistakes, so he knocked his knuckles against the wood that the door way was built with. A small part of the wood chipped away and a few smaller insects and one larger moth flew off of the wood, some going back into the building and others flying nearly into Michio's face. The moth fluttered around for a while and then settled back where it had been before.

Michio heard some stirring coming from somewhere in the home that he just hoped was not another insect or some other critter that the owners had learned to deal with. In place of a terrible critter, a woman with soft and subtle features with sweet but tired eyes came to the door.
"One minute!" a gentle voice called as she came up to Michio. When she got there she smiled a genuine smile in conditions where most would have had to force one, and folded her hands behind her back. She just seemed legitimately pleased to have a visitor of any sort standing at her door. "How many I help you, today?" she asked him lovingly.

"Actually, ma'am, I have something for you! Somebody ordered flowers to this address!" The young lady lit up even more than she did to have a visitor as he handed the bundle of beautiful flowers over to her. She took it gently from him, but with great anticipation. It was like she was fighting herself to not rudely yank it from Michio's hands, which would be rude and damage the beautiful flowers in the magnificent bundle. She then gingerly opened the card that came with the bouquet and read the front and inside of it. She then closed the card, as well as her eyes, and held the card up to her chest as if it were an intimate friend from whom she so wanted a loving embrace and a tear unlike those he had seen before today slid down her red cheek. She said softly yet strangely distantly to Michio, "My husband words ten or more hours a day almost every day, so I did not protest when he said he had to work on our anniversary, and I wasn't expecting anythings. This is so lovely." She held out a single ryo in her hand as to offer it to Michio. "Here, for delivering it."

Michio shook his head a little and held his palm up to show that nothing could be placed in his hand and that he would not be accepting any tips. This was a mission and he was not a tipped employee, and he did not want to take money from this woman. She seemed to need that one ryo much more than he ever would in his life. He tried only to match the warmth in her smile, which was something he rarely had troubles with. She was truly fascinating; he never before had met such a generous woman. This was the type of thing that he was hoping to see when he took over the completion of this mission. He thanked her without any explanation and was starting off on his way. "Don't I need to pay you?" she called out to him as he walked away.

He turned back and waved her question away with his free hand as he shouted back to her,
"Don't worry about it! The costs have all already been dealt with!" Of course, all of the deliveries were pre paid, but he would have told her the same thing even if they were not and he would have covered it himself. Some people in this world, often those who get them the least often, really just need something to come at no cost.

Michio, though he would never have admitted feeling such a thing toward an employer who was so kind as to give him a job, was very much irritating him as he read the address for the last stop; it was all the way back into town. He did not want to waste any of his chakra on another body flicker technique even if he had more than enough for a lot of them, but knowing that he could but still wanting to conserve his chakra had him feeling doubly irritated. The time listed just said that the time did not matter as long as it was the last stop on his route. Odd conditions for a delivery mission were probably a pretty common place thing, but Michio could not help but feel like this was odd even considering the job. The long walk was a nice one though. It gave him time to reflect on all the things that this job had let him see as an outsider but still so close to everything that was going on around him. He was allowed to see all walks of life in this small area, and was lucky enough to be made aware of how many different types of lives were going on in this village that he thought he knew. Even when quiet it could be a truly vibrant place if you only knocked on the right door. I am so very glad that I decided to take this mission on, he thought as he suddenly realized where he was.

The final address on his list of deliveries was the address of the flower shop. There was a base of flowers fixed to the wall next to the door of the currently closed shop that still looked vibrant but not nearly as gorgeous as those in this final bouquet. out of curiosity, he looked down at the card that came with this bouquet, and saw his own name written on the front of the card. It thanked him for his service, and asked that he switched out the flowers to make sure that people who walk by the shop will smell something that will lift their spirits and see colors that will catch their attention. After putting some thought into it Michio realized how genius of a marketing strategy this was.

The bouquet that he was switching out was beautiful, and nearly identical to the one that he was putting in its place, which impressed Michio. Anybody who has ever done decorating knows that dying flowers are a very fast mood killer. The death of anything beautiful will remind people on some level of the eventual deaths of themselves, so it was good that the owner was not going to wait for a single petal to wilt before replacing the whole thing. The letter also said that he could have the old bouquet of flowers to do with what he so pleased, but he had no clue what he would do with such a gorgeous arrangement. He just decided to take them home as he started to walk back that way. Maybe he would put them on display at his own home. A pretty vase and some carbonated mineral water or a soft drink with no coloring could keep these things alive for weeks past what they would do, he thought to himself.
