Personality:

Shizuka isn’t exactly a kind soul, though she can be both friendly and almost mild if she feels like it. Her most characteristic feature is her calm and coolheaded behaviour. She only rarely gets angry or excited. That said she isn’t dark and is often seen smiling. She laughs a lot when something seems funny and can often be cheery when she is with friends. But at heart she always keeps a cool and almost professional demeanour to the point of what is unnatural.

Shizuka has been thought to always be polite in any situation. She is usually very formal when meeting others. Furthermore she has a deep understanding of standard etiquette in most situations. In essence she appears to be the perfect nobility. Polite, smart, witty, highly and above all ever calm.

During her days in the Academy she developed a strong streak of arrogance. While she respects and honours anyone she considers “worthy”, like Sensei’s, skilled opponents, good friends and such, she will show a cold and harsh shoulder to those who does not meet her, at times unrealistic, high standards. Shizuka also considers her own and her village’s honour very important things and she is willing to defend them.


Likes:
Her favourite hobbies are drawing and tactical board games. She shows great skills within both these arts. Her favourite pass-time is strangely enough to train, something she does on a constant basis. She also enjoys discussions where she can test her wit and sharpen her mind. And weirdly enough, she has a strong liking for chocolates.

Dislikes:
If there was one thing she hates it’s bugs. Repetitive gestures, comments, or moves can also annoy her. Shizuka strongly dislikes mint flavour in any of her food, often going as far as to not eat anything if all that’s left is mint. Wasting her time over something terribly non-sense is also a big no-no.

Motivation:
Shizuka isn’t much of a dreamer. She is, after all, a realist. Aside from protecting those she cares for and her village, her greatest dream is to one day become one of the leading members within Hyougagakure. She also aspires to be the leader of an ANBU squad, and if opportunity allows it, a kage. But most of all, she dreams of making history – for her existence to be someday known, and to become a legend in her own way. These are what motivate her to keep on going.

Fears:
Shizuka only has one great fear, or rather, a phobia. Anything in association with bugs or crawling insects disrupts her calmness and concentration. And when touched or in contact with one can often render her immobile of fear. Also, her worst nightmare is to be blinded. Just an association with blindness makes her shiver. And when someone places their hands in front of her eyes she will react with anger and something close to hysteria.

Early life:
Shizuka Hattori was born in the Village of the Glacier, into the small yet prestigious Hattori family in a cold winter of the 29th of February. Her parents were neither legends nor nobles of the village, but the family is famous for their swordsmanship and weaponry skills, with the name itself embedded in history. Shizuka is born a child-prodigy, having already achieved skills to an adult's level in such a young age, and an extreme natural genius having an IQ of over 200, but in essence, she was still just a child. Shizuka was already trained since young to hold weapons and learn the vital points of the body. Since her mother was from a lineage of ninjas, Shizuka was raised to be adept in shinobi skills as well. By the age of 9, she was already in the level of a full-fledged archer, able to wield range weapons with accuracy, as well as knowledge over basic ninjutsu and taijutsu. It was all that she wanted at that time.

Possessing blood-red eyes and white hair, characteristics she neither got from her parents nor any of her relatives, she grew up feeling different from the rest of the family. And because of her constant training, young Shizuka didn’t get many friends. She lived a life mostly surrounded by her relatives and a few others. One of these few was a girl, Kaede, from down the street. As they shared the same street they also played together, and a friendship formed which was strong and warm.

Nothing really worth mentioning happened until Shizuka came to the age of 6 years, save one little incident. One day, as she was learning to gather herbs in the forest with her mother, she came upon something that looked much like a golden lady bug. Still having the mind of a child, she played with it, only to find herself stung and unable to see. The poison of the insect attacked the nerves around her eyes, rendering her blind for a few hours. Shizuka panicked and ran into the forest. It took 2 days before her father and mother found her in a state of utter panic and near hysteria. The sobbing girl was carried back home, comforted and feed, yet that one experience lodged itself in her mind and to this day she carries an unreasonable and unnatural fear of any insect and of being blinded.

It wasn’t until she was 11 that Shizuka decided to enter the Shinobi Academy. And it was even under unfortunate circumstances that she agreed to do so. Shizuka's best friend, Kaede, was killed by robbers along with the rest of Kaede’s family. Her best friend's death was such a blow to her that she refused to speak for three months. That same year, Shizuka entered the Shinobi Academy, all for her Kaede, along with the motivation to protect.



Academy life:
A year after the tragic incident that happened to her friend, Shizuka entered the Ninja Academy. She had been training her speed ability since she found it’s her best skill and was naturally above average than others. She wasn’t always being amongst the very best in her class, but she wasn’t a failure either. She had her weaknesses, but she excelled in a few aspects, particularly in ninjutsu and weapon handling. Her taijutsu skills were exceptional as well, earning her a decent reputation in the school.

By this time, she had slowly learned of her preferences in weapons and in elemental affinity, using her knowledge over the Hattori bushido type of fighting in use. And it didn’t take long before the Genin exams soon arrived, and she was 12. The first phase of the test: the written exams were easily passed by Shizuka with flying colours, just as to be expected of a young genius. However, the second part of the test, something about teamwork, unexpectedly caught her off guard. Even with her short period of stay in the academy, she still hadn’t mastered the art of moving in company. And her lack of skill in this field caused a major impact in her Genin exams, soon losing her spot in the genin listings, and failing the exams overall.

The unexpected turn of events almost caused her to quit and lose interest in being a shinobi, but whenever she recalls what happened to her friend, she just couldn’t find the courage to let go.

It wasn’t until she met a certain someone, a person that somewhat changed her views and perspective, that she found a new motivation in life: a broader and more in-depth meaning of being a shinobi. And this person was none other than the current Fubukikage himself, Shichiyou Tenzou. It was just a random meeting in one of the streets of Hyouga, with Shizuka not even realizing he was the kage. And a short yet meaningful conversation was all it took for the lass to snap out. It was a significant event for Shizuka, for it was the time she finally realized what she truly wanted to do in life.

Continuing another year in the academy, Shizuka aced the next genin exam.

“Hattori, Shizuka!” the voice from the room was firm and commanding. The thirteen year old Shizuka left her place in the line and entered the room. Her head was held steady and calm, and she had bound her flowing white hair back in a ponytail, just leaving enough hair to cover her ears. The room was an ordinary classroom. Along the right hand wall was a slowly rising raw of desks usually filled with students, on the left hand side, and facing the desks, were the teachers desk. The empty desks made the whole room seem bigger, as if the open space made the light wood of the walls extend. Only the teacher’s desks were occupied, two Jounins bearing the headbands of Hyouga was seated there.

“You know what to do?” asked the tallest of the two jounins, the one which was seated at the teachers place. Shizuka nodded slightly and took her place at the centre of the room. Her clear crimson eyes looked steadily at the two older shinobis. “Then please perform a Henge no jutsu for us. Turn into…. This,” The second jounin, the one who was standing, quickly revealed a poster, then he hid it again. Shizuka made a slight nod. Her hands came together and formed the seals.

Uma, Mi, Ne

The seals came in rapid succession. “Henge no jutsu” Shizuka disappeared on a soft puff of smoke. In her place was a tall black haired man, her eyes a dark brown colour and she wore a suit in deep black. It looked perfect, even the tie was perfect and neat. Even the wart on the man’s cheek had been copied. The seated jounin made a slight wave with hand and Shizuka returned to her real form.
“Well done. You certainly pass. You may leave,” Shizuka made a slight bow to the two jounins, and then she turned and headed for the door. Suddenly she was stopped as the seated jounin spoke yet again, “I didn’t expect less from Henzo’s daughter… Good luck with your Genin life young Hattori,” Shizuka stood still for a second. As if she waited for another comment. Then she walked though the door and back into the line. A soft and satisfied smile played across her lips.
