| Rainen has a rather ordinary build. He is a tad short for a fully grown man. He is thin, but the compact muscles on his arms and torso hint towards formidable physical strength, which he indeed possesses. He inherited his mothers strange natural hair color, blue. His blue hair is stringy and falls over his face in many thin strands typically reaching his chin or slightly below. His eyes are green. His clothing consists of a sleeveless vest with a zipper in the middle. The shirt on right side of the zipper grey while the left side is black. He wears black pants, typical shinobi shoes and black long gloves that run from his elbows to his hands, but do not cover his fingertips. MirageHi, my name is Ruud, but most people know me as either Rainen or Nobo. I've been rping only since October 2010 but I'm a fast learner. I hope to be a good and worthy addition to this site.Ninja ApplicationPersonalFirst Name:Rainen Last Name: Dotage Alias:Gender: Male Age: 19 Birthday: Febuary the 8th Sexuality: Straight Relationships: None Affiliation: HyougagakureRank: S-ranked missing-nin Element: Fuuton, Doton, Katon Specialization: Kenjutsu (S), Taijutsu (A), Ninjutsu(B) Personal v2Personality: One who meets Rainen will quickly realize this person is far from normal. He is quite the twisted individual. His most common persona is that of what appears to be an aristocratic, arrogant young man. Vain, foulmouthed, ill-tempered and egocentric, Rainen seems very full of himself and his abilities even addressing himself as “Rainen-sama” sometimes. This can be seen even in the way he typically sits on a chair. With his legs crossed, his chest a bit forward, his arms resting on the supports and his head tilde backward with his chin pointing out in front of him, Rainen sits on chairs as if they were thrones. He holds himself in very high regard, and combined with his short fuse this causes him to easily verbally (even physically if the situation allows for it) abuse anyone who does anything to insult his large but delicate ego. An egomaniac, Rainen always places himself and his own interest at the center of everything. He generally decides if whether he likes a person or not on how that person treats him. Towards people who respect him his talkativeness can lead to some pleasant conversations if they can live with his arrogance. But if he is insulted or disrespected he will quickly turn on that person in sometimes even violent rage. He likes to use his impressive strength to intimidate people and increase his dominance over them. Due to his aristocratic upbringing, Rainen is spoiled and quite childish. Used to always getting what he wants, Rainen handles disappointment very badly and is prone to having childish fits or smashing things in his environment if he doesn’t have his way. Knowing his surfaced persona, most people see Rainen as a spoiled asshole. However his past belies a more complex person. Rainen’s father, Dotage Zouen, had raised his son to become the most powerful Fubukikage ever. The father was a ruthless tactician who believed victory, be it on the physical battlefield, the social battlefield or the mental battlefield, could only be achieved by utterly dominating the opposing party, showing them no mercy and breaking them down any way possible. A strict person, Zouen did not tolerate failure and it was not uncommon for Rainen to see his father behead one of his servents before the young boy’s very eyes. Although Rainen’s father is dead and Rainen has been banished from Hyougagakure no Sato, to this day the nukenin is fiercely loyal to Zouen doing everything to live up to his old man’s high expectations swearing to take Hyouga back by force. To this end, Rainen sometimes even talks to the sky believing his father can hear him. He looks up to his dad, who was a powerful and overwhelming individual, and will do anything to become like him. At the same time he also greatly fears his father’s ruthlessness and dominant personality. Zouen’s harsh treatment versus failure has led Rainen to become a showoff and a perfectionist. He will always give it his full 100% during assignments or battles and, even if he tends to show off a lot, generally gets his tasks done. Rainen utterly loathes failing and will do anything to avoid it. If he has failed, or even if failure seems close, he can become increasingly agitated and even emotionally unstable. In the end, Zouen’s harsh treatments and high expectations have made Rainen into the person he is today. The man’s teachings made Rainen truly believe the title of Fubukikage is his property and birthright, and that the current Fubukikage is nothing but a usurper. He also has an utter loathing for his mother, whom he doesn’t even refer to as his mother anymore due to her betrayal. When he speaks about Dotage Nanako he usually refers to her as “that treacherous sow” or something along those lines. As for his typical battle persona, it has both it strenghts and his flaws. Rainen has his father's cunning, analytical ability and absolute ruthlessness, making him a formideable fighter. However due to his arrogance, Rainen is very cocky and prone to overestimating his own ability. Another trait that influince his battles in a negative way is his impatience. Don't expect Rainen to patiently wait all day lying in ambush. Likes: His father, his scythe, winning, red beans, getting what he wants Dislikes: His father, spicy and bitter food, people who insult him or his father. Motivation: To take over Hyougagakure Fears: To fail to live up to his father’s expectations. Clan InformationNo Clan HistoryHistory: - Spoiler:
Birth and Academy Arc
Rainen had an interesting childhood. He was born as not just the eldest son of the leader of the Dotage clan, but as the son of Dotage Zouen. Aside from his position as head of the big and influential Dotage clan, Zouen was an elder and advisor to the Fubikikage. An elitist, Zouen held his clan in very high regard and had nothing but contempt for the “ordinary” people. Secretly, Zouen loathed the Fubukikage for being a peaceful individual, often arguing with him about the way the village should be ruled. In Zouen’s vision, the village should be a strict and disciplined village with the “ordinary” shinobi’s only purpose being to protect and serve the higher branches of society. With their lives if they must. He also wasn’t satisfied with the military status of the village, being paranoia believing Hyouga should attack the other villages before they could attack Hyouga. To this end he even created an own organization of shinobi similar to Root, called Minamoto (the Source)
The Source’s main goal was to gain enough power for a coup d’etat. Their ranks consisted mostly of Dotage clan members, especially in the higher branches, but ordinary shinobi simply could also be found in the lower ranks. To this end they would carry out secret mission that would further their goals even If they went against the village’s policy or the village itself.
Zouen’s personality as a warmonger was also reflected in how he raised his eldest son. From the moment Rainen entered the ninja academy, not only did the boy receive training during class, but at home he was also viciously trained by his father. And whereas academy students generally start with theory, Zouen taught his son the ways of the ninja by having him fight other shinobi, mostly prisoners of war. At first Rainen, being a novice as he was, lost most of his battles against the captive shinobi being saved by his dad only seconds before he would actually die, allowing the opponent to beat him up. After every battle he lost, Rainen was forced to write a small essay about his mistakes and how he lost, to improve his strategic thinking and help him recognize and learn from his own mistakes. The mother did nothing to stop this, being afraid of her husband.
One thing that greatly affected Rainen and made him afraid of failing was when a shinobi came to report to his father about how he had failed a mission to hire a large band of missing-nin. This happened while the family was enjoying dinner. Much to the surprise of Rainen, the shinobi was beheaded on the spot by Zouen, who claimed that the shinobi world didn’t need those who failed to complete their missions.
Genin Arc
After a few years, his dad’s intense training showed their results as Rainen graduated from the academy with the best grades of his class. His father praised him and told him he was proud of the boy, but also warned him that the father’s training regiments were going to become more strict as Rainen needed to become a worthy Fubukikage. See, Zouen was getting older, and his age started hampering his progress as a shinobi. He realized it was pointless to claim the throne himself on his age as his rule would be very short lived. Instrad, he focused completely on making Rainen a fit Fubukikage. He would often tell Rainen that becoming Fubukikage was his birthright.
By the age of thirteen, among his fellow genin Rainen had the reputation of a spoiled brat. This because even though his father was strict in training, he also allowed Rainen to freely abuse his position as the son of an influential elder to let him get used to being a leader and a lord. To this end, Rainen almost always got what he wanted, be it his final word in an argument or material wealth, one flick his father’s wrist and he would get it. This made him not very popular among his teammates, as during missions it became completely clear that Rainen held his own life in much higher regard than those of his teammates.
To this end, after one year as a genin Rainen’s entire team would be qualified for the chuunin exams save for Rainen himself, due to his total lack of teamwork. When Rainen told his father about this, the jounin was punished and Rainen was placed among the exams nonetheless, being promoted to chuunin due to his fighting abilities which were advanced for his age and his cunning battle intelligence.
Chuunin Arc
During his chuunin times, Rainen’s arrogant father became less and less popular with the normal crowd, and it wasn’t strange for the young man to hear people badmouth Zouen on the streets. Rainen, having become very loyal to his father, easily became very pissed about this and often got into fights with people who talked bad about his father in his presence. In this he didn’t care whether the person was a shinobi or not, he just angrily attacked. As a result, he got into lots of trouble with authority, with his dad usually there to get him out.
Now a chuunin, Zouen started pitting his son against himself rather than prisoners. But just as Rainen expected the man to go easy on him, he was surprised to find Zouen going all out on him, beating him to a life’s inch. Later, when the boy was being healed by the village’s medics, Zouen appeared by his bed and spoke to him the following words.
“Does it hurt? Good. Pain reminds one of one’s mistakes! I want you to concentrate on this pain and think about the mistakes you made during our battle. Even if you dislike it now, in the end it will make you stronger. Make you fit to hold the title that is your birthright with pride.”
After that, he left. Rainen started working harder and harder, rising above most other chuunin in power and holding a big grudge towards those that still overshadowed him. Nonetheless Rainen was promoted to the rank of jounin at the age of 17.
Jounin Arc
Rainen was a jounin and was beginning to get his father’s acknowledgement. His father trusted him enough to officially include him in Minamoto and give him special missions. These missions often went against the village’s policy and were more concerned with strengthening the organization rather than serving the Kage.
These missions only strengthened Rainen’s feeling of self-importance, as he was placed in a four-man squad with him as leader. The loyal members of Minamoto were willing to sacrifice themselves for Rainen’s life, seeing him as the future Fubukikage, or for Zouen’s ideals in general. This even happened on one instance.
The squad was tasked with robbing the grave of the first Fubukikage. Zouen wanted to implant this man’s cells into himself and eventually Rainen to use the Shichiyou’s kekkei genkai. However the grave’s stone door was protected by Fuuinjutsu that simply alerted the village about the attempted grave robbery.
A jounin squad arrived quickly to deal with the grave robbers. Although Rainen’s squad was under the effects of Henge no Jutsu, prolonged fighting would dispel the jutsu. If the rest of the village would find out about Minamoto, Zouen’s plans would be foiled. The squad was quick to realize this. As soon as the enemy squad arrived, one of the Minamoto members sealed distracted the squad allowing the others to escape. Once Rainen and the other two got to safety, the Minamoto member performed a powerful self-destruct jutsu that killed the entire enemy squad.
Rainen reluctantly returned home to tell his father he had failed. For this, he received punishment. Although he wasn’t beheaded (Despite being ruthless and cold, Zouen still loved his son) he did receive a beating. The rest of the squad was less lucky, however. Death of Zouen Arc
Suddenly, something drastic happened. When Rainen was seventeen, things weren’t going well with the clan. The Fubukikage Tenzou had discovered some of Minamoto’s secret missions, and this combined with Zouen’s harsh behavior led to a fierce argument between the two, ending with Zouen being expelled from the council. As punishment for Zouen’s secret projects, the Dotage clan lost all of its influences. The frustration about this caused Zouen’s plans for a coup d’etat to be hastened to only a few days after this occurred.
Thus Source raided the Kage building. For a day the battle raged, during which Rainen, fiercely loyal to his father, butchered anyone who opposed Zouen. If beating up anyone who badmouthed his father during his genin and chuunin times was enough to make him unpopular, the young man’s ruthless extermination against anyone on the people’s side, not just shinobi but civilians too, made him almost as hated as Zouen himself.
In the end, both Zouen and the Kage realized that the fighting had done enough damage to the village and its populations. So the two agreed to let their differences be decided in one single battle. Both of them faced each other on top of the kage building in a fight to the death. The battle that followed was spectacular, but in the end Zouen bit the dust to a superior opponent. In his dying breath, however, he ordered Rainen to finish off the weakened Kage. Rainen blindly obeyed, and threw himself at Tenzou from the Kage’s blind spot. However, due to Rainens surprised the strike was blocked by no one else but his own mother. It turned out the mother, fed up with Zouen’s ways, had secretly undermined him and was the one who told the Kage about Minamoto’s actions.
Rainen realized it was hopeless and that his one chance at getting a lucky strike at the kage was ruined. His mother tried to reason with him, but in Rainen’s eyes the woman was a traitor. So he fled the village with a few remaining Minamoto members. For his deeds during the coup d’etat and his attempted attack on the kage, Rainen was branded an S-ranked missing-nin and a dangerous criminal.
Missing-nin Arc
The leftover Minamoto group began plotting their revenge. Their simple plan was to accept missions from small, backwater countries that were low on military power and therefore didn’t mind hiring criminals to do their jobs. They would raise funds like this until they would be able to hire more forces to attack Hyouga. This went on for about a year.
In that year the group had gathered a great deal of money that they could use for their invasion, but it was not nearly enough. However, their great activity in the lower countries had also reached the ears of Hyouga, who dispatched a group of shinobi to deal with them. This particular group was led by Rainen’s mother, who volunteered for the job. Thus, while they were traveling through the outer reaches of the Blizzard Country in their way to another backwater village, they were attacked!
The battle was a big one, during which the surrounding landscape suffered a lot of damage and a local farm village was even torn to shreds. However in the end Minamoto was outnumbered. Near the end of the battle, the three remaining Minamoto members, including Rainen, were cornered. Rainen’s mother stepped forward, and once again offered the boy redemption, and promised to be a real mother from now on.
But the boy was already too much brainwashed. He honestly believed in Zouen’s vision of the village and had already promised the old man he would do anything to live up to his expectations. As a reply, he simply spat in his mother’s face and told her to go **** herself. However, ever since she finally stood up against Zouen’s ideals, she had changed into a stronger woman. She realized Rainen was a lost cause, and although it killed her from the inside, she realized this was a moment where she had to put aside her emotions for the good of the village.
So she ordered the shinobi to kill the remaining Minamoto members, leaving the site herself because she didn’t want to see her son die. However in that final moment, the remaining Minamoto members once again proved to be loyal enough to sacrifice them for their future Fubukikage, jumping in front of one of the shinobi’s blades before telling Rainen with their last breath to “Flee and make Zouen-sama’s ideals come true”. This is exactly what Rainen did.
Nowadays Rainen still plots to destroy the hidden glacier, training his ass off and trying to find allies to finish what his dad had started.

Trouble was heading for Sunagakure no Sato. The village’s massive cliff walls could be seen rising from the desert from miles away. These walls provided the village with both protection and security. From these high walls, patrolling shinobi would be able to see anyone who was closing in on the village from miles away, making it nearly impossible to sneak up on it. Nearly, that is. Granted, on a clear, pleasant evening like this traveling above the surface would make one completely visible to anyone standing on Suna’s walls. Above the surface, that is. Unknown to the sentries patrolling the cliffs, a threat closed in on Suna, moving towards the village from under the dunes. It was Rainen. Using Doton to travel underground, he was closing in on the village quickly. This technique was one of Rainen’s favorites. It took surprisingly little chakra yet it could be used in more ways than can be counted on two hands.
Rainen had a plan. A plan to start a war between Oto and Suna. He had been plotting to destroy his former village for two years. To this end he had joined the Akatsuki, a powerful organization composed of some of the world’s most dangerous criminal shinobi. Deadly as this group was, however, S-ranked criminal named Rainen wasn’t satisfied. The organizations had other priorities than the destruction of Oto, and Rainen couldn’t wait for them to finish those. He was impatient. He would set in motion the engine of the Sound’s destruction himself! Otogakure no Sato was a mighty village nowadays, having defeated both Iwagakure and Kumogakure in its rise to power. Rainen knew that. He had contributed to those victories himself! He had been fighting on the front lines in the war versus Kumogakure no Sato. Yes, Oto was strong, therefore it needed a strong enemy. Sunagakure had recently opened its gates to missing-nin looking for a second chance. Even outside of Akatsuki, there were a lot of incredibly powerful missing-nin walking around in the shinobi world. Some of which indeed heeded the Kage’s call. These shinobi greatly added to Suna’s military power, making it the perfect enemy against Oto
In the meantime, Rainen had reached Suna and was now traveling underneath the walls. As soon as he popped up at the other side of it, standing behind a tall building, he instantly performed a quick, one handed seal. All that was required for the simple Transformation Technique. In an instant the young man in the Akatsuki cloak with his blue hair was transformed in an entirely other person. A man in his thirties with blonde, short hair and a scar on his chin. He wore the typical Otogakure outfit and an Otogakure headband. In this disguise, the plan was to damage the village and raise hell, then retreat before he would get caught. But he would make sure people would get a clear glimpse of his Otogakure headband. That would pit Suna against Otogakure. And with hints about an allegiance soon, so would Akatsuki…
He was going to use as little chakra as possible, however. There was a chance he might get into a fight against an equal opponent, maybe even the new Kage himself. In that case, he would need all his chakra. Luckily both Underground Submarine Voyage and Transformation were very chakra-efficient so Rainen’s chakra reserves were as good as full. And with that, Rainen dashed off. To the kage building he went. The best way to start a war was to attempt an assassination on the new Kazekage, or Dezatokage as he apparently changed the name of the rank. Of course all he would do was attempt assassination with one attack and retreat afterwards.
And so, after sneaking through the village trying to find the most abandoned route he could take, silencing the occasional lonely civilian by slitting their throat with a kunai before they could react, the disguised Rainen had reached the Kage building. He didn’t mind the trail of blood he had left behind. Someone would come across it soon enough, but that was fine. He WANTED to be discovered. Just not before he had staged his assassination-attempt on the Dezatokage.
Now came the moment. He had to be quick. He had to reach the kage building’s balcony, the one that leaded to the Dezatokage’s office. However going in from the inside would definitely get him spotted with the abundance of shinobi crawling around in there. So his best option was to scale the building’s wall using chakra to maintain his grip while walking vertically. However that, too, would leave him with a risk of getting caught. Just as Rainen was considering other idea’s, he heard a distant scream. A woman’s scream. Someone had discovered one of the corpses. Rainen smiled. He owed that woman a thanks. Now the attention of every shinobi in the village would be directed to the source of this scream. No one would watch the Kage building! So Rainen dashed. With speed typical to an S-rank melee specialist but insane for a normal human and impressive, though traceable, to a jounin’s trained eyes, Rainen dashed up the building. He didn’t waste a single second, gratefully using the woman’s diversion to its fullest.
And landed on the balcony to the Kage’s office. Now for the assassination attempt and he would be out of here in an instant. Rainen had barely landed or he opened op a summoning scroll making a swarm of kunai burst through the window that led to the Kage’s office. Some of the kunai had explosive tags attached to them, and the explosions would immediately alert the village, as well as increasing the killing potential of the attack. Of course Rainen didn’t expect someone powerful enough to hold the position of Kage to die that easily, but the added killing power made the assassination attempt look more believable, making it seem like the assassin really tried.
