Mission Title: Catch that cat!
Difficulty: D
Location: -set-
Reward: 20,000 ryo
Objective: It seems that a little noble girl, by the name of Kimi, has lost her oh-so-sweet Mister snugglywugglycuddlypoofy-kins. The long haired cat has been spotted across the village, sighted by multiple people. Her parents have posted a nice reward for bringing the cat back.
One thing. The cat is an escape artist. No matter your rank he will escape from you at least twice, clawing your arms and shoulders up getting away. The second time he escapes he will flee up a rather tall acorn tree, taking pleasure in knocking the acorns off onto your face and head. After a few minutes the cat will realise that he is stuck in the tree, and you'll have to get him back down.
If the feline is harmed in anyway you have failed the mission, and you will not get your pay.
How Rin had gotten himself roped into this mess was beyond his abilities of comprehension. Of all the important things he could be doing with his time, such as sleeping, he had instead been tasked with the objective of locating and catching a runaway cat. He couldn't complain, the revenue he would generate from the mission would make up for the wasted time, but it still didn't sit well with him. Why must his time be wasted in such a way?
He shrugged off the negative thoughts and stared onward. About ten meters from him stood the cat he was meant to catch. It fit the description of the animal that he sought, so it must have been it. “
Alright you lil' fucker, let's get this over with..” Rin said as he began to approach the cat at a moderate pace, the normal walking speed for him. The cat seemed to be fairly intimidated by his forward advance, it was probably used to being pampered and spoiled. Rin grabbed the cat and picked it up under the arms, then fully extended his arms and stared at it. “
That was it..? Glad to know I wasted my ti-” Rin began, but he was interrupted by the feline latching on his arm. He hadn't reacted to the “pain” yet as the claws began to tear up his arm, but he did lose his grip.
“
H-hey! Wait!” he called out as the Cat sprinted away. Rin followed closely behind the agile feline, dodging and weaving his way through the traffic of the village while calling for the damned thing. He must have followed the thing for five minutes before it finally stopped, thinking that it had lost Rin. However, Rin was still close behind, and as he attempted to grab the cat again it sprinted off a second time. He followed suit and found the cat stuck on the branch of a tree. He could only stare on with an expression completely void of interest while it began to kick and throw several acorns down toward him at the base of the tree. Rin, again, just shrugged the falling acorns off without any other reaction and grumbled some inaudible slur as he raised his right hand. Rin grasped one of the two hilts of the sword that rested on his back and pulled it from the scabbard. “
You wanna play rough, huh!?” Rin said as he took a step back and placed both hands on the hilts of the blade. “
I'll show you fuckin' rough!”
Rin released the chakra he held in the sword. The bandages that covered the blade exploded in every direction, and he swung the blade in a complete one hundred eighty degree arc. The chakra took the shape of a sword and sliced through the trunk of the tree with ease. As it began to fall, Rin leapt from the ground and grabbed the cat by the scruff of it's neck, activating it's naturally submissive state. He landed and stared at the feline for a second, then grumbled something. “
Fuckin' cats... This is why I like dogs better!” he shouted. Rin grabbed the end of the bandage and held it in his mouth, unable to put it anywhere else with his hands being occupied, one with the cat and the other with his sword. “
Lucky 'oi din't knock'yer ash out wif' my shword...” he mumbled, his words slurred by the bandage in his mouth. It was more likely that Rin was annoyed that he'd have to wrap his sword up, which took the better part of an hour, but the cat had certainly put him in a bad mood. He couldn't have been any more of a dog person if he tried.
