Word Count: 1075 /1000Lee stood outside the gate that lead inside of the village. He had figured that he needed to put small missions behind him. He could only help the people so much and he had figured that he had done plenty of that himself alone, with wonderful results of coin and praise. But the mission he was assigned to now seem to be of similar tastes, a simple guard mission to begin with from a former employee no less but it would not matter who the person was, a mission was a mission and he had accepted it so there was no point in even thinking thoughts of going against it.
A woman walked up behind Lee and raised her hand to slap him on his back and send him stumbling forward. He caught himself and turned to look back to see a pair of bunny ears and they lead down to the traveling merchant that he was looking for. She gave him a wink "Yo, nice ta see ya again." Lee nodded his head in agreement and let his posture straighten itself out "You know what we're doing right?" "
Yes and it shouldn't be a problem. I'll make sure you don't run into any problems."
The woman nodded and with that, they began to set off. The intended plan was simple, to head around the outside of the village and met with key individuals that the client wished to speak with and Lee to stand guard and watch to make sure nothing else happened beside simple talks, a task that wouldn't be difficult for someone of his skill but a task none the less.
The first person held closest to the gate, just outside reach of view from it. Lee stood only a few feet from the two, just out of range of what they whispered and spoke of. He only caught simple words of greetings but anything else was unknown to him and rightfully so, he had no business in just what the merchant was doing, just to serve as watchman.
The second began the same way, with Lee being told to stand a distance away with the knowledge to keep himself there until either called upon. Lee held himself a distance away simply observing what ever would catch his eye at the time. The mission would end simply it would seem without incident. It wasn't till his eye caught a glimpse of something "
What in blazes..." Suddenly, a weapon burst from the shadows and its target being in the direction of the merchant and without second though, Lee moved. His hand instantly going from his side to intercept the object in flight. But instead of grasping the object by its handle, the blade was stopped in his hand. "A-are you alright?!" The merchant answered as Lee continued to look in the direction of the kunai but saw nothing but silence. "
I'm fine, nothing that can't be mended over time or with care. Please, make sure to speak of anything that might be out of the ordinary." The merchant nodded and Lee returned to his position, pulling and throwing the kunai to the ground and using his powers of his kekkei genkai to keep the blood inside his body while thinking of the threat that had gotten away.
The third, Lee had felt himself being watched and aimed to keep his mission and its valued person alive. He stood at the same distance as he had always to make sure that nothing was left to the unknown and kept a more watchful eye over the darker areas of the surroundings. He held onto his hand, still freshly bleeding but halted tremendously and would have looked far worse on any other person that would have received the same wound. In the midst of thought, he turn his attention toward the merchant her the customer that she spoke to and saw yet another object approaching them, this time ready for such an attack as he drew a kunai of his own and deflected the on coming attack with his unwounded hand as the merchant continued to talk but closer to the ground, very intent on continuing the conversation. It was then that Lee was sat on by two ninja that wore no signs of a village and covered any sort of parts of their body that would reveal where they hailed from. "
Turn back now o-" One of the ninja lunged at Lee to which he quickly countered and clashed with his kunai. The other ninja jumped and was going to try and pass Lee but with a flick of his wrist from his wounded hand, the blood formed quickly into a sword that shot into the side of the ninja, the one he had clashed with took this change to break away and run, the wounded ninja did the same, but not at the same pace as its accomplice.
The merchant was clear that she was going to continue and Lee had no choice but to comply. "This will be the last customer so you wont have to worry so much mister Ketsueki." The same things happened, she met with the customer and talks began. Lee, holding onto his injured hand and rubbing it making it seem as though it hurt but this was to give a false sense toward any onlookers. Whilst watching the surrounding area, a familiar appearance shown itself, the two ninja returned but this time, Lee readied his blood sword and a kunai and was about to meet them in battle but as soon as he struck, the ninja faded. "
A clone?" And as he turned around, the merchant was being hoisted up onto a single ninja's shoulder and the ninja was about to take off. "
Shit!" The sword of blood quickly began to waver and shifted around into the wound and there were then a set of shuriken placed in his grasp that he quickly released. Each one struck along the lower back and leg of the ninja which quickly caused him to drop the merchant and flee.
Lee ran to the merchant's side and helped her to her feet. "Quite the mess huh?" Lee remained silent as she laughed hesitantly and then patted herself off "Well, what's done is done, let's head back and get you that reward, you have done outstanding work, you deserve it!"
