Personality: Akane is someone to whom nothing is too dear to not be able to make a joke out of it, even if it is a dark joke. Her intellect rather necessitates it. If she becomes bored, she can find the most obscure and strangest things inanely strange, which can disturb those around her until they realize that she means nothing by it other than amusing herself during her frequent boredom. She is not above manipulating those around her by whatever means to gain something to amuse herself or to further this agenda.
Though flippant and absent-minded almost to the extreme, this is more or less an act; she is fully capable of focusing, single-minded, upon whatever she decides to involve herself in. That said, getting her to care about what others think she should do is a different question entirely. Regardless, she is professional in her work, even if she does so with bad grace.
The strangest attribute, perhaps, of this already very strange character is the idea that while it is very easy to make friends with her, she reciprocates almost never. People tend towards trusting her immediately, however Akane does have very strong issues with letting anyone close to her own self fending off any attempts with her flippant behaviour and making light of any such serious thing. However, she never does so in a way that is hurtful, indeed, she is usually very careful about how others feel.
Likes: Akane adores warm weather, mostly because they remind her of her days as a small childhood in her home town where she spent a great deal of time during the summer playing with them. If the weather is warm, Akane will generally be found sunbathing or dozing in a warm shade outside in one of her haunts. Often people will take this as her disappearing to think up the next prank, and they are more than likely right about this.
Akane also enjoys cooking, especially baking, as her mother taught her the basics at home. This was one of the most exciting things Akane could do in her little village and that she was good at it and earned praise from both her mother and grandmother is another reason why she continued this hobby during her training in Kusamuragakure. For this reason, she also rather looks down on bad quality food and women who do not know how to cook well.
Akane also adores everything and anything feminine. She does not see any reason why she should forsake the delights of her own gender simply because she has decided to become a
shinobi and makes it very clear that she thinks this as an advantage by making sure that all her little ribbons and accessories also have a secondary, militaristic function.
Dislikes: Even thought Akane
DOES tend towards emotional and mental bullying, she does this purely for fun and falls just shy of actually hurting people. For some reason, this connects with her deep dislike of true bullying with malevolent intent.
She also dislikes the cold and avoids situations which would mean going anywhere conditions nearing zero degrees centigrade. If the weather gets colder, Akane is the first to start complaining and wearing extra layers of clothes.
Another thing Akane dislikes is any reference to her being a 'farmer's girl'. Even though this is completely true, so many of her peers have used it as an insult against her that she was become rather sensitive about this kind of discrimination and difference between herself and the children of
shinobi. There are a very few who are allowed to call her by this title, but these are people with whom she has a close relationship of some sort. Any stranger calling her this, especially with a derogatory tone of voice will find themselves faced with a ball of fury.
Motivation: Motivation is always something peculiar and unknown when Akane is involved. She generally seems to have none, but will go to extreme lengths when she seems to 'latch onto' an idea. If pressured to answer this question, the only answer she will give is 'I don't like being bored'.
Akane also feels strongly about making her parents proud, as she knows they put a lot of faith into their one and only child who, against all expectations, turned out to be prime
shinobi material,
Fears:Falling short of expectations is a large pressure on Akane, due to the hope her parents have pinned on her, but also, perhaps an even greater fear is being left alone after being all but excommunicated from her beloved home village of farmers after being recruited for the
shinobi way of life. The idea of being different and being isolated from other people is something she is secretly terrified about, but does not dare to admit it, even to herself, resulting is her flippant mannerisms.
Akane is also very much afraid of freezing to death. This quite likely stems from her deep-seated dislike of the cold. As such, Akane will go to almost any lengths to avoid going anywhere where she imagines this may be likely to occur.

Clan History: NA
History: Akane was born into a small family of farmers on the outskirts of Kusamuragakure. This nondescript little family had been working the rice paddies found there for countless generations as has held itself to be the descendants of the first people who arrived there to do exactly the same thing hundreds of years ago. They had seen many a war and regime come and go, lost many of their own to these changes as well, but have remained more or less in tact as the tides of time swept around them.
This hard-working and no-nonsense family was chagrined to find Akane to be one of their number. A beautiful child with a mind like a razor. Ever since she was a toddler Akane was always the one to find trouble with her inquisitive mind and utter disdain for what she considered to be uninteresting. Her stubbornness did not help her any to acclimatize to her surroundings, but it was something her doting parents also had besides their endless patience.
During her 6th year, Akane was running in the fields by the lake with three other children from her tiny village when one of their number fell into the water. Akane and her friends looked on in shock and horror and the child began to sink, being unable to swim. The shouts and cried of the child, however trigger something in Akane, and she ran out without thinking to her friend, right over the water and pulled her out, dragging her to land again, without more than getting the soles of her feet wet. This act was heralded as a miracle by all, especially by the saved child's parents, but Akane's family had to make the difficult decision of what to do with their wayward offspring.
Akane's father, being the stoic, logical person that he was, traveled to Kusamuragakure to ask for help and advice from the village's
shinobi, as he had recognized the feat his daughter had made was that of a ninja. A
chuunin instructor came back with him and interviewed Akane, a day she remembers quite clearly, especially as that was the day her parent's put her into the care of this instructor, telling her it was for her own good that she suddenly leave the home she loved so much.
While Akane accepted this turn of fate that had come upon her, she deeply resented the fact that she was different from those she loved and that she could never be part of their world; that they had to go down different roads. This ended up as a defining factor for her time at the Academy where is was often handicapping herself and making trouble despite her obvious talent.
[To be continued as character develops]RP Sample: [Character Introduction]Akane rolled her eyes at the sky and sighed.
She was in that state of mind that she abhorred so very, very deeply: she was bored. Actually bored. It was this mind-numbing lack of anything even remotely interesting that could make her tired of her very life. Nothing more interesting than a sleeping dog on a porch and there were civilizations on moldy pieces of bread that were more interesting, but she had run out of those when she had used them to line the bed of a fellow
genin. Her instructors had raised hell over this, yet another immature prank, but that had made things interesting for a short while, especially while she had to clean up the mess she had made. This prank, however, rather fell short of her usual genius, but Akane could find nothing else, and now she did not even have that to amuse herself and while away the stagnant time suffocating her.
At this time of year she and her old friends back home would have been in their secret place in the forest talking about dreams. That was a world away now. A different life in an alternative universe that had been destroyed.
Sighing again, Akane leaned her back against the hot wall of the Academy. It was unusually hot for this time of the year, but Akane loved this sweltering heat. It slowed her mind from whirring to sleepy and even if there was nothing much to do, it did not bother her as much.
She eyed the sleeping dog and wondered if it would not have been far better for everyone if she had been born a dog herself. It certainly looked to be quite fun at times. Akane giggled to herself at this thought, then tugged at her long hair, biting her lip in deep thought.
"I wonder who would bother with all this?" She asked the world in general. "It's all such a bother, really."
She had just graduated from her studies and was now, in theory, a
genin. That said, Akane knew that there was a world of difference between theory and practice. After all, she was the child who had taken an extra year to graduate due to all the problems she had to atone for during her time at the school. She was held as the most problematic student on record, and this was probably true, having frustrated numerous teachers and instructors by being talented and a quick learner, but stacking up the odds against her very own self with very childish pranks for no other reason than being 'bored'.
It was something no one understood, this self-handicap. Akane could have past the criteria on time, perhaps even ahead of time, if she had simply not done such a plethora of inanely stupid things. She did not have any enemies, though, as she always made up for her little slights, but she did not have any friends, either, as most people simply could not handle the airy, unbothered manner in which she 'had fun' with those around her. Akane was known as nice, if silly, and rather popular, it was just that having to depend on someone with her personality was more than anyone had the nerves to do.
Akane knew that she would have to go far to prove that she could be trusted and depended upon if she were to have any hope of getting taken seriously and put into a team, but she was so bored with the idea, she could simply not be bothered.
"And then what?" She mused aloud again, eyes still on the sleepy mutt. "I'd have to test the others sooner or later, anyways and then I'd be back to square one. Ergh...I really should have been a dog, or a cat, or maybe a little legless lizard. That would have been cool. Humanity is too bothersome."
She did not really mean this, however, the way people reacted to situations deeply interested her, hence her provocative behaviour and numerous pranks. These were never meant to hurt anyone, it was just her curious mind seeking to figure out how things worked with one of the most complicated beings it could find.
"Or maybe I should just be happy I can remain here." Akane added to herself, dozing off in the warm sun. "I probably can't be bothered with missions anyways."
She told herself this with a sinking feeling in the stomach. The one thing that had hurt her rather a lot last year was seeing her classmates continue on while she was held back due to being nothing other than what she was. Akane was not going to admit this to herself, though, after all, she was stronger than that.
The was a sound from far off and Akane sat up straight, blue eyes fixed on the direction from whence the sound had come from. It had come and gone like a mirage, but Akane felt certain that this whistle-like noise that had shot through the air so abruptly and strangely was something quite unusual. As such, it had caught her attention and boredom was immediately forgotten.
Springing to her feet, Akane trotted towards the source of the sound, making her way over to the other side of the Academy campus. She was quickly sitting upon the roof of the dormitory, looking about curiously, trying to see if she could add something that looked unusual to the unusual sound.
The sound came again, and Akane's hair whipped this way and that as she sought visual confirmation of what she was hearing. Then something crashed into her from behind, making her yelp and tumble along the roof until she caught herself.
Pulling herself up, blood pumping in her veins, Akane saw a strange bird lying knocked out cold on the roof tiles. It was not overly large, about the size of a small hawk or falcon. It was a raptor, judging by the curved claws and beak. Mostly a dark brown, what really caught Akane's attention was the splash of amazing blue that decorated its wings and they spread about it in its daze.
Approaching it with care, Akane peered it that small body and watched its chest heaving, wondering if she should get a stick and poke at it.
"Well, well," she said, unconsciously imitating her father. "What have we here, hmm? You pack quite a punch for someone so small, don't you?"
Suddenly, the bird's golden eyes snapped open and the little raptor shot up into the air with that unmistakable, piercing voice and flew at Akane's face. The girl threw up her hand against the bird in a classic defense stance and closed her eyes against those sharp claws.
A moment passed and nothing happened.
Akane opened her eyes and looked about cautiously, wondering what on Earth had happened, but the bird was nowhere to be seen.
"Curiouser and curiouser." She muttered with utter disdain for correct language usage, spotting a brilliant blue feather on the roof and picking it up, examining it. She then put it into her hair and shrugged, sitting down to gaze at the sky, lost in thought.
Source: I came here following a link I found at the bottom of the RP page I recently joined through an old friend's suggestion called End Point. I have about 4-5 years solid RP experience behind me, mainly on Gaia where I had built up a rather interesting reputation under the alias of Robotic Zamat and want to get back into the game, only without the mindless, irritating drama of those who do not understand that a game is a bloody game and there for a challenge and fun. :)
