Personality: Seracen tends to act very differently in certain situations, causing some to believe that he may suffer from multiple personalities or even demon possession. The man prefers to relax in his spare time, and even crack jokes with his peers, but becomes a strict hard ass in the presence of his own students. He does this as a method of instilling discipline and respect in his own genin in an attempt to make them better ninja. Sometimes,  though, he seems to legitimately hate genin... While in the presence of his subordinates, he seems extremely quick to anger, snapping at genin for even the smallest thing. In actuality,  Seracen only feigns anger: inwardly, he is generally calm. When he is truly angry, he becomes a far more intimidating man, and will actually become more quiet before lashing out destructively.
During battle, the hardened veteran seems to prefer the classic method of staying completely out of sight until an opportunity for an attack to present itself. If this method is unavailable,  he instead relies on guerrilla tactics in order to make a counterattack unlikely. As a man that pushes himself during training,  he tends to have greater stamina than his peers. He is sometimes even known to sing battle songs if a fight is exciting or amusing for him. Howver, if his students are involved in a battle he doesn't think they can survive,  he will do anything to protect them, even putting himself in harm's way (and then practically killing them himself when he punishes them).
Seracen doesn't drink often, but when he does, he over does it more often than not. Even so, a drunken Seracen is a tavern brawl's worst nightmare. He becomes far more dangerous when drunk (or hung over), and so it is generally accepted around the village that any party with Seracen should have a very limited amount of alcohol.
As much as Seracen seems to hate genin,  he will never be deceitful to any of them. He is, in fact, brutally honest.

Likes: Seracen greatly enjoys his battle songs, singing them often when relaxing in his downtime or when out drinking. He'll even sing to his students (while they suffer some kind of punishment,  usually). He also appreciates a good joke when with his peers, and is known for a loud bellowing laugh that at least matches the volume of his "instructor" voice.
Given that Seracen is a straight man in his prime, it should go without saying that he enjoys the fairer sex. But he prefers strong women that he doesn't have to hold himself back around. Especially if she's as strong as he is.
His favorite food is roast pork.

Dislikes:  It's fairly well known that Seracen really really hates genin. He finds that they ask the dumbest questions, and they always manage to screw something up.
In addition to genin, Seracen has a multitude of other pet peeves: laziness, lack of discipline,  and disrespect will never be tolerated in his presence. Not surprisingly,  Seracen claims that all of his worst pet peeves are found in genin and he is more than happy to point out any genin that gets on his nerves. That is to say, every genin.
He absolutely hates eating seafood.

Motivation:  Seracen's greatest motivation is to ensure that all genin trained by him will never lose a battle,  never fail a mission, and never has to experience the loss of a teammate.

Fears:  Seracen is most afraid of losing even a single member of a team of his genin, or even his previous students. Despite his harsh words and abrasive attitude towards them, he really does care about their well-being.

Clan History:  
 The Uchiha clan descended from the elder of the two sons of the Sage of the Six Paths. The elder brother inherited the Sage's "eyes", powerful chakra and spiritual abilities. When it came time for the Sage to choose a successor, he questioned the two on what course of action they would follow to bring order to the world. The elder believed that might was the way to bring peace, while the younger believed love was the way. The Sage favored the ideal of the younger brother, and therefore designated the younger as his successor, causing the elder to be filled with jealousy and hatefulness. From the younger son descended the Senju clan who would be the eternal rivals of the Uchiha.

Before the founding of the ninja villages, the Uchiha were one of the many mercenary clans for hire. Because of their Sharingan, the Uchiha clan came to be known as one of the two strongest clans, the other being the Senju clan. As time passed the Uchiha grew stronger, conquering whatever clans they came upon, such that, whenever the Uchiha clan was hired for a job, the opposing side would hire the Senju, and vice versa.

The Senju clan, grew tired of the endless fighting, and approached the Uchiha clan with a peace treaty. The leader at that time feared that an alliance would lead the Uchiha to ruin, but his clan disagreed, and he was forced to accept. The two clans came together to stop fighting. The Senju settled in the Cherry Blossom Country, and the Uchiha moved to the Ocean Country to reside on its various islands. What happens next will depend on the generations to come.


History: Seracen's parents were not actually from Shippuugakure originally, but are instead from one of the smaller villages that had once fought against the ancient utopia of Heiwagakure. This part of the clan continued a sacrificial ritual that began in the days of that ancient war: each member of the small sect would kill a younger sibling in a ritual to attain the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan.  Seracen's father was the eldest of his siblings,  and so he was forced into murdering his own brother in order to gain the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan. His Mangekyou Sharingan was unique in that instead of gaining the power of either Amaterasu or Tsukuyomi, his Mangekyou Sharingan could cause memory lapses, blackouts, or even mental blocks to cause confusion in those that tried to look directly into his Mangekyou Sharingan. Seracen's mother was spared the fate of being killed by one of her own siblings when the she and Seracen's father managed to sneak away from the gated compound with the memory lapse abilities of the Mangekyou Sharingan and eloped to the relatively peaceful Shippuugakure Uchiha clan. A few years later, and Seracen was born, another happy event for the young couple. Unfortunately, neither of them could guess at the cost of their attempt to make these new lives for themselves and their child.
As Seracen grew, his parents would tell him just a little bit more about the sect of the Uchiha clan they came from. However, instead of scaring him away from the thought of awakening the Sharingan, it seemed to pique his curiosity,  enough so that he would ask his father how it felt to kill one's brother. In a fit of rage, his father used his Mangekyou's power for the first time since he had eloped. The Mangekyou's power caused an extremely powerful mental block against the Sharingan, ensuring that he might never be able to attain that power. And so, as Seracen was growing up, he was never able to attain even the first tomoe of the Sharingan. His father, instantly overcome with grief, but not knowing how to reverse the mental blockage, entrusts his son with his own sword, one of only a few relics that Seracen's parents had managed to smuggle away from the sect of crazed Uchiha. The sword's power had supposedly been infused into the shadow demon generations ago; it had not been activated since that time. The sword supposedly once had the power to "sever a man's heart in two; between his love and his life". It clearly no longer retains its old power with the shadow demon locked away by the Heiwagakure priests, though there are recently rumors bounding about that the shadow demon might be returning...
Despite (or perhaps because of) this setback, Seracen worked harder than his other Uchiha cousins. It truly shows in his school work, and he graduated from the Academy fairly quickly due to his high marks. Seracen made few friends during his time in the Academy due to his focus on school work, though he did make some. His appreciation for a good joke kept him from the usual antisocial stigma that most members of the Uchiha clan place on themselves. Seracen also lacked the haughtiness and the inflated ego of most other Uchiha. These traits (or lack thereof) may have been linked to the block placed on Seracen's mind, severing Seracen's thoughts of grandeur which usually fill the minds of the typical Uchiha cousin. Whatever the case may be,  Seracen's parents were happy to see their son making plenty of friends and doing well in the Academy. And so Seracen did not grow up in a greatly stressful environment like other Uchiha. His younger years were actually a wonderful time for the little boy.
Seracen, like many genin before him, was placed in a team of three others consisting of two fellow genin and one higher ranking sensei. Sadly, it seemed that Seracen's sensei was disinterested in helping his students grow, and acted eager to be rid of them. Seracen had actually grown close to the other two genin, partially because all three children hated their sensei and partially because they had all known each other previously, in the Academy. The three quickly became great friends, each of them ready to protect each other at all costs. Little did they know that they would soon have to protect each other at the ultimate cost. They were all placed in the Chuunin Exams long before they were truly ready, having only completed basic missions and their sensei pocketing their pay when he knew the Umikage wouldn't see it. Seracen surprisingly passed the Chuunin Exams, but at the cost of seeing one teammate wounded fatally and the other killed when they attempted to protect an exhausted Seracen from a murderous enemy team from the Hidden Volcano village. Of course, because of his father's mental block, his Sharingan could not awaken. Seracen vowed to take revenge on the man he actually held responsible for the pain that had been caused by poor training: his previous sensei.
This vengeance was the focus for much of his life after the Chuunin Exams, but no opportunities presented themselves for many years. During that time, Seracen became extremely proficient in kenjutsu by training with his father's sword in a failed attempt to discover its hidden power, and ninjutsu skills, creating several new, powerful jutsu with the death of his previous sensei in mind. Seracen eventually surpassed his peers until he was officially recognized and given the rank of Special Jounin due to his abilities with the blade and with his ninjutsu capabilities.
One sunny afternoon, Seracen is told to meet with the Umikage concerning a certain man. Upon reaching the offices, he is given a temporary position in the ANBU. Surprised by the odd new position, Seracen demands to know the reason for the promotion. He hears the news he had been waiting for since witnessing the deaths of his teammates and making that vow for revenge in Chuunin Exams: his previous sensei has become a rogue ninja and is being hunted down. Being the last surviving student apparently made Seracen the most likely person to help the ANBU find the rogue ninja. Seracen, of course, accepted the mission right away upon receiving this information, and began the tracking mission immediately and making it clear to the ANBU team that the mission for Seracen was not a search and secure, but a search and destroy mission. The ANBU team that traveled with the young man made no objections to this violent decision on the part of Seracen, and so Seracen tracked his previous sensei by the methods that he saw fit.
After several long weeks of tracking only vague rumors and a weak trail, which would actually seem to disappear at times, the small team finally runs into Seracen's previous sensei. Unfortunately, the ninja had become much stronger, due to a new eye in his right socket, an eye very familiar to Seracen: his own father's eye.
Seracen's previous sensei tells him the story of how he had received this particular eye: the teacher had actually known Seracen's parents and where they had come from the moment they arrived. He had once visited the Uchiha sect himself at one point to ascertain their threat level for Shippuugakure, and had witnessed the Mangekyou ritual personally. When Seracen's parents attempted to enter the village, the teacher made a deal with them: if the father gave his eye to the teacher, the couple would be allowed into the village. If they attempted to enter anyway, the Umikage would be called down to dispose of a pair of homicidal Uchiha. Obviously, the two had agreed, but only on a single condition; that the teacher wait until their first child could come of age. The teacher had agreed at the time, but he was apparently an impatient man. Seracen's parents were now dead, and though one eye was missing,  the teacher clearly thought he could win with his newfound power.
Indeed, the other ANBU are defeated by this particular Mangekyou's power to warp memories, but upon attempting the same method on Seracen had the unanticipated effect of destroying the mental block that stopped his Sharingan from awakening. Instead of being defeated, Seracen earned his revenge for his two teammates and his only family by killing the rogue ninja with his father's own sword. His skill in defeating such a powerful enemy earned Seracen an alias, at least among the surviving ANBU: Seracen of the Blade, who cuts his way through an opponent's greatest attack in order to destroy the enemy. Fearing the thought of others attempting to gain the powers of his own father's Mangekyou Sharingan, the young man takes out his father's eye from his previous sensei and crushes it in his hand in order to ensure that nobody could ever use his father's Mangekyou Sharingan to make themselves more powerful, as his late teacher had tried to do. Although it was a bit worrying for Seracen that he could only find one of his father's Mangekyou Sharingan, he had to put away his own concerns in order to lead the remaining living members of the small ANBU team back to Shippuugakure.
Immediately following the completion of the mission,  Seracen goes to his parents' home to ready their bodies for burial. In one of his father's hands, he finds a crumpled note addressed to him in his father's handwriting. Too pained by the deaths to read the note, he puts it away for later. Seracen arranges the funeral himself, and is not surprised to find that he is alone at their funeral; his parents had never really been active members of the community. The gravestones that Seracen created himself in order to mark their graves did not even have their clan names engraved into the stones. There were simply their first names, their dates, and a brief epitaph: "here lie the bodies of two ninja who sacrificed all for a better life. May they find a suitable reward in the land of the dead." It is only after the funeral that Seracen finally reads the note, but the meaning of the seemingly jumbled and mixed letters leave the note impossible to decipher, save for a single word, "trust", in the upper left hand corner of the paper. Confused, the young man takes the note to every wise man he can find in Shippuugakure, but each time yields a similar result of a look of confusion from the wise man, a look of disappointment from Seracen, and finally a look of pity from the wise man to the young man that had just lost both parents to some kind of traitor. Seracen quickly became tired and exasperated by this pattern and has long since given up on deciphering the script that his dead father left for him in those precious final moments when his life was ebbing away. Seracen obviously could not make himself get rid of what must be an extremely important document, and so it is kept carefully hidden away from the peering eyes of others, in the hopes of one day deciphering at least some small part of the message. Seracen continues to hope that the message really does have something to do with the sword or the missing Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan, but he is fairly sure that he must unlock his own Sharingan in order to translate the note. As it is, the letters seem to dance before his eyes in an unreadable pattern that only increases his level of frustration further. Even so, he still occasionally pulls out the note to try to make himself understand it, usually on the anniversary of his father's death.
Afterwards, Seracen relinquished his position in the ANBU, though he was allowed to retain his old porcelain mask and an invitation to join again at a time of his choice. Instead,  Seracen elected to teach young genin in memory of his own failed team.
He has since been training genin for several years, and is now considered one of the best, if not the best sensei in Shippuugakure. His dropout rate is extremely high, but those who manage to succeed in his difficult training regimen become expert shinobi, and tend to advance through the ranks quickly.
Despite his success, Seracen has not been able to advance himself to the rank of Jounin. This is because he spends almost all of his time trying to make his students better, disregarding his own advancement in favor of theirs, and because he is still searching for his father's other Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan, which is still floating around somewhere just out of Seracen's grasp. Seracen aims to destroy this eye as well, not wanting the power that his father did not want and was forced to receive, as he considers the Mangekyou Sharingan cursed, both for the one using it and for that person's family. Seracen, in all his years as a teacher, has not even been able to activate his own Sharingan, due to the amount of time and effort he puts into the betterment of the genin he trains. His genin are rarely grateful, since his many years of tirelessly teaching genin has made him rather difficult when he has to deal with genin. He has lately become fairly grumpy, most likely because he has made no progress in finding his father's eye, deciphering the letter his father wrote, or even gaining the rank of Jounin.


RP Sample:  The night promises to be a long one. But a night of simply watching and waiting always turns out to be a long one. Seracen glances up at the bright moon from his position atop the building and grumbles quietly to himself. His position is uncomfortable, and the job is terribly boring at the moment. But now there is action from below! Seracen looks down at the small, ramshackle building he'd been staring at for the past few hours and sees the rowdy bandits whooping loudly, clearly having spent the earnings of their trade on spirits. He carefully scopes out his target: that one, the guy with a scar and a retreating hairline.
He readies himself, his muscles tightening as he prepares to explode from his advantageous hiding spot. The bandits don't see the figure, like a wild cat ready to pounce on its unsuspecting prey. And pounce he does, his cloak fluttering all around him as he spirals down towards his target. Only one looks up at a sound like fluttering wings, and a kunai flying down from above silences him forever. The others notice his demise, but are too late to stop what happens next.
With a flash of metallic silver reflecting the moon's smiling face, the bandit with a scar and receding hairline will never again need to worry about his fading looks.
