Personality: Mayumi is fiercely independent. She is able to accomplish anything she puts her mind to and she won't give up. She is perfectly suited to being on her own. She is not a social butterfly like some other people and actually prefers to live by herself, that way there is never any issue of who controls what at home, she likes to be in control.
Relationships with Mayumi are always complicated, just like her, her relationships are a series of extremes, she can even be downright moody for no apparent reason. Mayumi is known for her possessiveness and jealousy but on the other hand, she is extremely loyal. Mayumi has an excellent memory and combined with an inability to let things go, she can hold a grudge against someone who did her harm forever, in fact Mayumi rarely if never forgives and forgets. She will even go as far as get vengeance on the person. On the other hand, she will always remember a kind gesture forever and repay it. Any kind selfless gesture done for Mayumi will gain trust and respect which is extremely important to her in any relationship, either romantic or not. The best advice is to be honest with Mayumi and in return, you will gain an amazing friend you will never forget and who will be loyal to you and never make false promises. Her truthful and shocking sense of humor if different than that of any other person and Mayumi makes an amazing, powerful interesting friend that can be trusted.
Mayumi is perfectly suited to any form of business that makes a difference in the world, greatly impacts people and society and a most importantly, Mayumi has to be in a power position, this is why these careers are suited to Mayumi, she demands one person in supreme control giving orders and leading a unit of people/practices. In business, Mayumi tends to easily gather wealth, she makes very wise business decisions and she is very conservative about spending her money.
Mayumi is extremely ambitious, persistent and determined which is shown through a power hungry, controlling attitude. Not in a stubborn sense however, because Mayumi will work for what she wants and control with justified reasons. This is obvious to any onlooker. Mayumi never gives up, she is so determined to reach her goal. The key to this success is her flexibility. She is able to re-survey a situation and take a different approach if necessary. This makes her very adaptable and versatile. Mayumi is a fierce competitor, combined with her powers of observation and her excellent memory, she will recall facts and when necessary, bring them to the table at the time of need. She will win justly, with proper facts and arguments to support her thoughts and opinions. Mayumi is excellent at restoring order to a chaotic situation and she is just as capable of manipulating for her own greed and benefit. The un-evolved Mayumi is a very dangerous person because she uses her powers to benefit only her and will step on other people in order to satisfy her own wants.
She is all about intensity and contradictions. She likes to be aware of a situation and always know what's going on, figuring this out with her probing mind, on the other hand, she is interested in the occult, the paranormal, conspiracy theories and other types of similar unknown mysteries. She is very capable of hiding her true feelings and motivations, she often has ulterior motives or a hidden agenda.
Mayumi is all about control, she needs to be in control at all times. To be out of control is very threatening, even dangerous to Mayumi's psyche, when she controls, she feels safe.
Mayumi is very emotional, her emotions are intensified, both good emotions and bad. Negative emotions of jealousy and resentment are hallmarks of this turbulent gal. On the other side, Mayumi is well known for her forceful and powerful drive to succeed and her amazing dedication. Mayumi is constantly trying to understand her emotions through finding a deeper purpose in life.
Mayumi is very intuitive, but not as in a psychic sense, more as intuitive into the human mind, she has a great understanding of the mystery and the power of the human mind.
Mayumi has a fear of failure which she keeps hidden extremely well, should her confrontation not be successful, or her career fail, she will simply use her adaptive skill to quickly move and and leave the bad experience behind. Do not ever expect her to fess up or share her tale with anyone however because this shows signs of weakness and Mayumi always wins, she is always the self-proclaimed best! One of the reasons she seems like she always accomplishes her goals is because she sets tangible short-term goals that she know she can accomplish, she knows what she is capable of and this is what she goes for.
Mayumi is very wary about trusting anyone, a person needs to gain her trust and this gets built up over time and once all the 'trust tests' have been passed, Mayumi loves deeply and intensely. Underneath the cool exterior, energies and emotions are constantly flowing but Mayumi deals with this by channeling this into useful activities, hobbies, relationships or a career. This is never apparent to the outside observer but knowing this fact explains why Mayumi is so passionate about whatever it is that she is undertaking. Mayumi has powerful instincts and she trusts her own gut feeling which is another reason why Mayumi seldom fails.
Mayumi is a very deep, intense person, there is always more than meets the eye. She presents a cool, detached and unemotional air to the world yet lying underneath is tremendous power, extreme strength, intense passion and a strong will and a persistent drive. Mayumi has a very penetrative mind, so do not be surprised if she ask questions, she is trying to delve deeper and figure things out and survey the situation. She always wants to know why, where and any other possible detail she can possibly know. Mayumi is very weary of the games that other people try to play and she is very aware of it. Mayumi tends to dominate and control anyone that lets them, or anyone that she finds weak. The person that Mayumi respects and holds close to them is treated with amazing kindness, loyalty and generosity. On the outside, Mayumi has great secretiveness and mystery. This magnetically draws people to her. She is known to be controlling and too ambitious but only because she needs control for this makes her feel safe.
Likes: Be knowledgeable about that you talk about too because Mayumi is intelligent and lots of knowledge about many things. If someone is an expert on a certain topic, and they teach her about it, you will impress her because this know-it-all is does not usually know fine details about a lot of things, being too busy to bother to learn. People that speak their mind, and engage her in a friendly debate but are never too conservative, as she finds this to be very dull and boring. You can say that Mayumi has a short attention span.
Being honest and loyal to her, once she has had her trust broken she will never give it back again, and then she can make someone truly regret. Being honest, and loyal to something earns her respect and honour.
And yet, even though she values honesty, she loves to play pranks on any unsuspecting civilians, which can get her into trouble... But who can catch her?
Mayumi loved her older brother Satoshi, often calling him by endearments bestowed upon him by her.
Dislikes: Mayumi absolutely abhors when people try to shove something down her throat, seriously it’s not cool. She dislikes anything being pushed off onto someone without consent, but strangely, she has no problem doing it to someone. Mayumi enjoys her freedom to such a point that even a mention of slavery or bondage bothers her, as she has a strong belief in freedom of will. Well at least for herself and people that she holds dear. She hates it when someone blames her for something and doesn’t let her explain, and it enrages her when they blame her for something she honestly didn’t do and then doesn’t let her explain. She will not go outside when it is warmer than 82 degrees fahrenheit, as she does indeed get migraines easily and prefers colder weather. Being constantly touched/smothered/strongly depended upon. Mayumi doesn’t like being touched or fretted over. She doesn’t even like someone being in her elbow space if she doesn’t know them. She hates it when people talk about death because it reminds her of Satoshi.
Motivation: To not die young. Well okay, she has a more motivation than just that. That motivation is to become a great Shinobi and to benefit her village. But she will NOT be made a tool out of! She has a will and by whatever mighty god if she changes her mind than it shall be changed.
Mayumi wants to become an S-ranked medical-nin, but not because she wants fame for herself. Her father, Akira was a medical-nin once, a good one, and she always wanted to be like him, she also wants to prevent people from dying and their family having to go through the same thing her’s did when her brother died.
The reason she aims to go so high is so that her clan can be glorious and great. Not that the previous xanadu haven’t done that, but she wishes to make the Xanadu’s light glow brighter.
Fears: Routine and boredom are two of Mayumi’s biggest fears. She would rather be naive then know the depressing truth, she does not want anything putting a damper on her freedom or energy. She secretly fears becoming an outcast and being rejected by everyone around her, like losing her late brother.. Another fear is not being able to help someone, or seeing someone she loves die, as she believes that it is her duty to protect those around her. Germs and viruses. Ever since she was young she has feared getting sick. Every time she gets sick, or a wound she freaks out, believing that a virus has entered her body and is turning her body’s immune system against her and slowly killing her. Mayumi is indeed a near germaphobe.
Xanadu Bloodline Name: Meikai no shugo-sha (Guardians of the Netherworld)
Bloodline Ability: Members of this clan are half-phantom and half-human. Although this is true, it also caused their Chakra pool to be completely removed from their body and deposited at a mysterious orb-like spirit of varying colour. The spirit orb can only be seen only by the members of the clan or someone who has seen death happen in front of their eyes. They have a very high level of concentration.
Genin, Chuunin:
During this level, they have to concentrate and absorb chakra from their spirit half. This makes it quite troublesome for those who want to be quick on their toes in battle. Although, they can use E~C rank jutsu’s with ease.
Sp. Jounin, Jounin, S-rank:
During this level, jutsu’s ranging from A~S rank will backfire on the caster if it involves chakra but to counter this disability members of the clan are able to merge with their spirit half for only 15 posts. Thus, letting them access Jutsu’s from A~S rank. Note that if the jutsu involves absorbing chakra from ones spirit half, it would require two posts for A~S rank unless stated. This can be used once per topic.
Below states the weapons that can be carried by the clan members. Note that the weapons are passed down from their forefathers (Explained in history).
Virtues:Chastity – Increases jutsu damage by two fold.
Temperance – Dispels Genjutsu every two posts.
Kindness – Heals the user passively but at a small amount.
Charity – Has the ability to sap your life in return for an increase in power
Diligence – Able to continue a battle after being landed a critical hit
Patience – Increased focus, insight, foresight and senses.
Humility – Does not feel fear or pain when used.
Vice:Lust – Has the ability to sap life from the opponent to heal yourself.
Gluttony – Loves to drink blood, the more blood, the more power.
Envy – Has the ability to copy the shape and effects of other weapons but its strength is 80% of the original.
Greed – The more Ryo one has in hand, the more powerful the weapon
Sloth – The being of slowness can have a very slow movement but very high damage output
Wrath – Increase all stats by two times but at a cost of your sanity
Pride – Being as pride, it does not like other chakra except for its owner, thus it will push aside all other chakra.

Clan History: Long ago, war broke out. Countless lives lost in the blood stained grounds, bodies rotting, souls left unrest. Scarlet flames swirl in wake, devouring anything in its path. Merciless. Unforgiving. It comes after each battle. It’s fate? To cleanse! It’s desire? To give peace to those who have passed on.
In truth the clan was just scattered bits of nomadic people. They have no intension nor relation to what happened to the outside world. They preferred to throw everything not normal to them and live in peace as they travelled from place to place, gaining knowledge on much of the geography of the world, not to mention some well hidden ancient temples, shires and hideouts. They also have wide knowledge over many rumours, myths and legends that held were around at that time.
Among every mystery, one of them stood out the most. The legend of the temple of judgement, Tamashī no handan. Although, none of the seven members founding members of the clan went there as of yet, the legend spread like a virus, unrelenting, ever putting people in a trance state of desire. Everyone thought it was salvation and eternal bliss that will be found inside but the clan founders stayed away, fearful that the corruption will get to them.
Alas, they couldn’t escape the fate that which the temple already predicted. Soon, all of the ten leaders and their families meet at the temple. The famed mystery of the temple of black and white. One side it was rotting with darkness, malice and sin, the other with pureness, clarity and virtue. Stunning it was, but something or someone stood out. A certain elderly caretaker, stood to greet them. Unknowingly, their life had already been changed when they first came to know about the temple.
Time passed and each of the founding members changed, their families were told to wait for them far away, at the nearby river they all meet. Soon a ritual started, the caretaker revealed to be an immortal lady named Shikieiki Yamaxanadu, her job to get people to help her judge the living and send souls to their final resting place. She granted each of them a power they will never forget. Separate souls representing seven colours, their heirs having the colours of their respecting souls and weapons each depicting a vice and a virtue. Their goal was simple; to help people leave behind regrets and finally leave the world in peace.
Shocked by their predicament, each of them went down the path and the only way to move on was forward, but slowly, each member found themselves ever tied to this path. Unable to run away. “The truth is that peace is always within..” Shikieiki said before the seven founding members left the temple and it will forever stay the same as time goes on for eternity.
History: Birth ArcIt was a warm but not hot summer morning. The date was June 15th.
“Sir, we are going to have to induce labor. If we don’t, we bear the risk of losing both of them.” The doctor spoke in a stern but gentle voice. They were in the renowned Village of the Hidden Leaves’ hospital, the clean scent was nearly overpowering. A pregnant woman and her husband had come in due to worry at the wife’s condition. They had been right to worry, and the middle aged doctor had the Kunoichi hospitalized much to her displeasure.
The sandy blonde haired, green-eyed man was wearing the normal flak jacket and navy blue pants. He was tall, standing at about 6’2”, and somewhat broad shouldered. He was pacing, clearly worried but he spoke clearly. “Do what ever you must. They are my world.”
“We shall begin immediately then.” The doctor turned and left the lobby, walking into a room. The curtain was pulled on both sides. A thin and sickly looking woman sat in a bed with her legs propped up. Her skin was an ill colour, dark bags surrounded her dulled and sunken in hazel eyes. Her belly jutted out, it being the most prominent thing. She looked like a skeleton with a large kickball in her pelvis. Her eyes vigilantly shot up to look at the doctor.
“What’s the news?”
“We are inducing labor.”
“My due date is three weeks away. Is it safe?”
“If we do not there is a very high risk that you and the baby will die in your current state.”
The woman glared at him for a moment before nodding. She was not happy but she would do whatever it was that was needed to save and protect her baby. The doctor left and, after a few short moments returned with a needle and syringe filled with a clear fluid. He pushed the needle through the clear plastic intravenous tube and squeezed, pushing the sliding plunger down and forcing the liquid into the tube.
It took six hours and three pushes, but a small baby girl was born. She was so very tiny; only weighing in at about four pounds, six ounces. Her skin was tinged yellow with jaundice due to her being three weeks premature. The nurse washed the infant and handed it to the waiting mother. After everything was cleaned up the nurse let the father in.
“Akira, it’s a girl.”
Rushing to the bedside to see his wife and child Akira asked, “What should we name her Hiro? What about Reiko?”
The woman smiled, “I like the name Mayumi. It means True Bow.”
Pre-Academy Arc“Mayumi!”
Silence.
“Mayumi Xanadu! I know you are hiding here, somewhere!” The mother stopped and turned toward one of the many wooden beams in her house and just let her head thump against it. This child. She could not keep up with her at all. Hiro could set her down and turn her back for a second and BAM, the little girl was gone. Normally she had to call upon her firstborn, a lithe boy named Satoshi, to track down his sister.
Melting to the floor when she heard and saw her two children go running past her in the hallway. She let a feral growl of frustration loose. This in turn caused the two children to pause and stare wide eyed with dread at her. “Children. Go sit in the living room and be silent!” She commanded. Satoshi took his little sister by the hand and drug her to the main room and sat her down on his lap at the table. Satoshi had just became a Genin and had turned thirteen a few weeks prior to that, while his sister was six years younger, being of only seven years of age. After a second their mother joined them at the table.
For a few good moments, about ten, they sat in silence.
“Satoshi, you have your first mission tomorrow correct?”
“Yes ma’am.”
“A normal and harmless D-rank.”
“Yes. Mika-Sensei told us that we are going to help one of the elderly women weed her lawn and garden.”
“I see.”
Mayumi began to squirm about and after they were quiet for a few moments asked, “Ani-chan, when I get older will I get to be in Mika-Sensei’s squad too?”
He smiled down at her. “I don’t know Mayumi, it depends... Only the best get into Mika-Sensei’s squad...”
Mayumi’s eyes widened a bit. “Then-then can you teach me how to throw kunai today Ani-chan?”
“I can if mom doesn’t care. What do you say mom?”
Hiro stood and snorted. “Be home before dinner.”
Mayumi stood up and rushed to the door, pulling her shoes on with ease and opened the door. “I’ll race ya there Ani-chan!”
She took off, her long blue hair blowing back to behind her in a vibrant and fiery ‘ribbon’. She weaved through the normal crowd of people so fast that she thought she was flying.
I’ll beat him there for sure this time! She thought to herself. The downtown market place was going by in a blur, but it was so big... Such a long way to the woods where her brother trained by himself. She jumped, ran and ducked under people’s legs and around them. She took a right turn and soon she began to slow down. The forest loomed in front of her, but she was strong! No need to worry about anything getting her!
She continued into the forest, she was surrounded by a thick earthly smell, it was a beautifully clean scent. The birds were chirping joyously and everything seemed fine. Everything but one small detail. She could feel eyes watching her every move. Glancing around at the brush then up at the trees, she moved with caution, careful as to not even bother the leaves among the ground.
Finally, after much paranoia and creeping about, she sat in the small clearing that Satoshi used for training. She hadn’t beaten him here, his stuff was already sitting in a neat pile near the left edge of the meadow. Two trees caught her eye immediately, one had deep but short slashes, cuts and holes in it, probably from various weaponry. The other tree was bald of it’s bark, smoothed out and curving inward on each side, most likely the tree he used for Taijutsu. Even though they had strange shapes one thing stood out on both trees. They were both limbless and cut off at about three-fourths of the way up. She had wandered up to these strange trees, standing and staring at them, attempting to count the number of cuts on the first tree.
That damned nagging feeling of paranoia was back. Where in the hell was her brother? She noticed that the clearing had grown near silent. Was that someone whispering, or just a breeze? A twig snapping or her mind playing tricks?
Oh, the dirt was certainly not healthy for a seven year old, but Mayumi was suddenly forced to the ground. Someone had landed on her back, and was pinning her to the ground. She screamed before a stream of words began to pour from her mouth like no tomorrow. “Please don’t kill me, I’m only seven! I’d be a horrible slave! I can’t do any physical labor at all! And- And my Clan! They’ll track you down and Kill you before you get very far! Now get off of me because your fat butt is crushing the life out of-” She stopped as she took in a breath. She recognized her brother’s scent in the air. Was he shaking... With laughter?! She wriggled about until he fell off of her. She turned to glare at him. The copper haired Satoshi was holding his mouth with one hand and clutching his stomach with the other as he convulsed in a laughter fit on the ground. Even his long haired and blue eyed Australian Shepherd Ninken, Yume, seemed to smile. Mayumi suppressed the urge to ring his neck and instead opted on kicking him in the back side with all of her little kid might.
“What’s wrong with you!? You meanie!” She exclaimed in upset.
“Ah- But it- Was- Ha- Too- Funny- To pass,” He paused as he breathed and cleared his throat. “To pass up. Oh, come on Mayumi! It was just a prank, don’t get so worked up.”
“But... You scared me.” She said as she sank to her knees and hugged him.
“Oh Mayumi, I’m sorry for scaring you.”
“I’m sorry for kicking you in the butt.”
“Nah, it’s okay. Hey, whaddaya say that instead of throwing kunai, we go scare some old people?” He offered.
She smiled at him and nodded with excitement. “Yeah!”
Academy ArcThis was one of their many bonding experiences. Sitting on top of a shingled roof they both waited. And waited... and waited.... Guess what? They waited some more. This had to be absolutely perfect. Two cans of cobalt blue paint in a bucket that perched oh so precariously on the gutter of the yellow house sat next to it’s fellow bucket of neon green paint. Mr. Yashichi was about to get doused, dyed with blue and green. He deserved it, well, at least in Mayumi and Satoshi’s eyes he did.
The door’s bell rang as it opened, Mayumi held her breath. They saw a white haired head with a freckled bald spot right in the centre. Their rival. Mr. Yashichi! In perfect synchronization the two siblings pushed the buckets over with a solid thrust of their legs, and gravity did it’s work. The weight of the paint forced each bucket to a side, causing the thick liquid to spill out.
“Objective: Embarrass Mr. Yashichi.” Claimed Satoshi.
“MISSION SUCCESSFUL!” Came Mayumi’s reply as she turned and high fived her older brother. He was fifteen now, and had finally become a Chuunin soon after she joined the academy.
A paint soaked and raging elderly man stomped to glare at them. “Why you little brats! I’ll beat the stuffing outta ya two!” His glasses were covered with blue on one lense and green on the other, it was the same all down his body, with patches of bare cloth and little deformities as the fluid ran down his clothes.
“Hey old man Yashichi! Ya look like an idiot!” The boy yelled down. The elder’s blood boiled. Literally, you could see his face turn red with rage.
That’s when her brother stood up and jumped to the street, pulling her with him. The girl looked to the man, a mischievous grin curling the corners of her mouth upwards, making her seem even more feral. “Catch us if you can olddie!” She said, sticking her tongue out.
The seething man moved with surprising speed, lunging forward and grabbing his broom in one movement. He started running at them, which in turn caused them to turn tail and flee away.
Damn, she thought as she ran,
That old guy is fast as hell! Down a street, around a left corner or two, up an alleyway and over a ditch. Soon they ended up on the busiest street of the Village Hidden in the Hurricanes’ market district. The people that they didn’t bowl over just stopped and stared at Mr. Yashichi. Well to be honest, it was a sight to behold. An old wrinkly and white haired man chasing a teenager, a little girl and a ninken. It was an amazing sight, but not a rather rare one. It happened nearly twice a week, every single week starting about two years back. Yet, today was different, it was different due to one man with sandy blonde hair and light emerald green eyes. They didn’t even realize he was there until-
AGCK!Both of his children, or ‘troubles’ as he usually referenced them by, stumbled back, falling to the ground while holding their throats and coughing. A soothing and familiar scent. The tall man had caught, and was still holding, them both by the back of their shirt collars as they ran by. When Mayumi recovered enough to see without coughing, she blinked before shrinking away from the disappointed look of her father’s eyes. It was an albeit pinning look, not a glare, but that kind of look that made your cheeks burn as you berated yourself. She heard panting, or rather wheezing as pounding footsteps ended.
“Do those brats belong to you Akira?”
“I would prefer that you call them kids, but yes they are mine.”
“Well your-” The elder started, gesturing at his attire before getting interrupted.
“I have seen what my two have done.” Releasing his grip on their shirts, his stern gaze returned to them. “Apologize. Whatever it costs to buy Mr. Yashichi a new shirt and pair of pants is coming out of your allowance, Mayumi, and your earnings, Satoshi.”
Mayumi caught herself before she could hit her cranium on the ground. She moved onto her knees, glancing up at her unwavering father, then to the ground before looking up to Mr. Y’s glaring face. She dipped her head and apologized for painting him. Her cheeks stung red with embarrassment. She was bowing, on her knees, in the middle of the busiest Shippuugakure road to an old man covered in paint. She would never live it down.
She stood and tried to walk away, but she wasn’t fast enough.
“Mayumi.”
“Yes, daddy?”
“What day is it today?”
“Tuesday.” She said, swallowing. She knew what was coming.
“Why aren’t you at the Academy then?”
“Well I- Um, you see... I was going to help...”She trailed off as her father crouched down and looked her in the face.
“Don’t lie to me Mayumi. If you tell me the truth then you won’t get in as much trouble as you would for lying to me.”
She glanced at the ground and shuffled her feet before replying with, “The Academy is so boring. All they do is ‘bleh bleh bleh learn to pick flowers, blah blah blah rules.’ It’s stupid.”
“Well, what do you want to learn about?”
“I want to be like you. I wanna learn to be the best medical-nin around!”
About three years later:
“Hey Mayumi, come with me to the kennels. One of our dogs just had pups a little while ago and I need help. Mom asked us to do it.” Satoshi said. He was no longer a gangly, lanky and skinny teen. He had filled out and became very lithe and agile, also tall like their father. His face featured a well defined jaw line, high cheek bones, and hazel irises. His hair, which had once been dark blonde, was a medium copper mixed with gold blonde strands, making it appear lighter. He stood outside of his little sister’s door, and would have knocked, or opened it if his hands weren’t full with a box of supplies for the pups and the mother. He sighed and nudged the door open with his foot. Mayumi was sprawled out in a rather un-modest position, face first across her mat, hair awry.
“MAYUMI!” Nothing. He readjusted the box and withdrew an empty writing scroll from his hip pouch, and with an underhand toss, sent it through the air and down onto Mayumi’s head.
“Eeeramph. Grarg mmmh.” She made weird noises.
“Mayumi.”
“Wwwhhaaaat~?” She groaned out.
“Mom wants you to come help me in the kennel with the new puppies.”
“Puppies?!” She seemed to instantly perk up into the living.
“Yes, puppies. Get ready, you sleep like the dead and are even harder to wake. I’m leaving in five minutes.” He said as he turned and walked out of her room. The first thing she did was run to the bathroom and brush her teeth, swish and then throw on the first thing she saw. She was about to leave when she remembered her messy hair.
Brush! She thought as she hunted one down and dragged it through her hair repeatedly. She had gotten done in five minutes, her fastest time ever.
“Grab that box and walk with me. I would race ya, but mom said not to jostle the boxes.”
Finally, after a moment of walking the kennel came into sight. When she got to the door she smiled, five puppies came running up to greet her, they were so cute, little balls of fluff and energy. She opened the door and they all ran around her, yipping with excitement. All of them except for a single puppy, that hid there behind his mother. She reached over a picked the pup up slowly before smiling and petting it. It was so soft. She lifted it up, checking it’s gender. Male. She placed him down and continued to check each puppy’s gender before helping her brother to move the dogs and clean the cage. She placed the food and water as Ani-chan brought the Canines back into the space.
She continued this routine nearly everyday, coming and checking on the pups, feeding them and giving them new water, helping her brother with the other dogs. She enjoyed it watching the pups grow, and slowly she grew more attached to the shy pup every passing day.
She was happy until grief gripped her household.
Satoshi and the rest of his team, including Mika-Sensei had been sent on a B-Ranked mission a week and a few days ago. They were due back today and Mayumi waited on the front of their house for him and Yume to get home, but they didn’t show up. It was normal for missions or higher rank taking a little longer than expected. Mayumi sat and waited the day after that. Still nothing.
Then, that night Akira flung the door open. “Hiro, Mayumi. Satoshi is in the hospital. Come on!”
It wasn’t any use to tell them to hurry, they were out of the front door in nearly a minute. They were soon at the hospital of the Hidden Hurricane Village, rushing in the door, Akira flashed his ID, getting us past the front desk and into the Intensive care unit. Hiro was the the one ahead, her husband had told her which unit he was in. She threw back the curtains just as another doctor finished pulling the sheet up over the boy’s face.
“SATOSHI!” She screamed as she started forward, “Not my baby! No, he isn’t dead! SATOSHI!” with one lunge she was at the side of the bed, ripping the sheet away from the person she knew was her son’s face. His once beautiful and energetic hazel eyes were now cold, dull and lifelessly staring at the ceiling. His face has not nearly as warm as it should of, had he been living. Hiro pulled the sheet down more, exposing his chest and abdomen. It was horrific, a deep cut across his stomach, burnt, blistered and tearing skin across his entire upper chest. His skin was warped, bubbles, yellow and black holes, as if he had been hit with a powerful concentrated source of heat.
That’s all she needed to know as she was wrestled away from her son, her hand extended as if trying to reach for him as she fought and screamed for her son. Mayumi stepped into the room. Sh didn’t even bother to step close to the bed, she could see what it looked like from here. Her stomach clenched, she felt like she had just gotten kicked hard right in the gut. She couldn’t comprehend this. No, that couldn’t be her brother on the bed, he couldn’t have died. This didn’t happen! It was all just some horrible nightmare that her subconscious brewed up because of her worry. She wanted to turn away, to get the image away from her. She finally did it, looking at her father.
He was crying.
He never cried. Not once in all of Mayumi’s life.
He looked so... His face was a mask, painted over with every conceivable expression of sadness. A frown, quivering chin, tears, and even the skin on his nose, cheeks and around his eyes were blushed a soft red. He held Hiro close to him trying to comfort her as she wailed.
It wasn’t a dream.
It was true.
She was nowhere near this creative, or imaginative.
Why?
Why? Why? Why?Her brother was gone. As she continued to stare blankly at the covered face it slowly sank into her skull.
He wasn’t coming back. It was black all around her and the world was silent, her heart dropped to the floor and it was hard to breathe, it hurt to even think as everything pressed in around her. No more races, no more prank playing, no more fun. Nothing.
The day passed by without meaning as she prepared for the funeral. She stood there with no expression, holding a red rose as they buried him, standing there until everyone, even her parents, had left. She just stood there, looking down at the tombstone with his name engraved on it. It was dark now, as she sat on the ground in front of the headstone.
“I miss you Satoshi. You’re probably looking down at me, telling me that I should be home right now.” Her words were so somber and quiet. Half choked as the lump in her throat began to grow and it became hard to breathe or see as her eyes teared up. She attempted a smile, but it ended up being a frown as her body convulsed in sobs and shivers as she sucked air in raggedly. It was cold outside, and the wind blew softly.
“I don’t get it. How come you never know much you love something until it’s gone? Why do you have to find out later, only to feel the horrible backlash? Why do we always underestimate our love for someone until they aren’t here?”
Day after day she skipped out of her last class at the academy to visit his grave. She just couldn’t get over it. Her grades sunk as her household fell into a rut of depression, everything just started falling apart bit by bit.
Genin and Chuunin ArcWith her horrid grades she did pass the academy, getting into squad 3. By now her mother, Hiro, had been diagnosed with depression. The life had drained out of her eyes day by day until she was a shell of herself. A hollow husk that moved through her daily chores before sitting down and staring at Akira and her room’s wall. Any attempts Mayumi made to try to get her to talk resulted in short and quiet conversation. Hiro was broken on the inside. It was made apparent when she retired from being a ninja and slunk into a near hermit living style. She just laid there on her bed, somewhere between sleep and the waking world, her once beautiful and passionate hazel eyes were sunk in, dull and surrounded by dark circles as she grew thin with her waning appetite.
Sometimes when Mayumi walked by her parents’ room at night she could hear her mother’s sobbing voice and her father attempting to soothe her back into sleep.
And finally one night her mother stopped crying, went to the bathroom, and mix-matched several different types of pills before downing them with alcohol.
Another funeral, a single father, heartbroken and in distress. Akira had lost his first born, and his wife within the span of four years.
“Mayumi.” He spoke with a somber voice.
“Yes father?”
“I can not...” He shook his head. “I am going to give you my two weapons, Lust and Humility.”
Returning home he withdrew a set of Dragon Claw finger armour and retrieved a deathly knife. Touching the dragon claws “This is Humility, their name is Callous. When you use them, fear, nor pain shall be felt.” and running his fingers down the onyx handle of the knife, “And this is Lust, it’s name is Blasphemy. With it’s sting you can sap the life of an opponent to revive yourself. Pick them up and we will begin training.”
And so they did. Day after day she learned how to wield her forefathers’ weapons with great ease, and with this new skill she fought her way through the Chuunin exams. She won her battle, and got promoted to Chuunin.
Akira didn’t live long enough to see his daughter become a Special Jounin. When she was seventeen her father died, broken-hearted but strong. Dying proudly and gloriously like the warrior he once was, during an S-ranked mission. Akira had already passed on all that Mayumi needed to know.
Now Mayumi has two paths in front of her. The same two paths every ninja faces. Greater good, or Greater evil. They say that those around you help determine your fate, but not every saying is true.
RP Sample: The Umikage had asked her to meet her at the training grounds and she had. She stood there, waiting and listening, hoping to hear the higher ranked ninja and wondering what type of training they would do. Himitsu sighed and sat under a tree, leaning on it's trunk and listening to the nature around her. Her concentration drifted off and the older woman took advantage of this, and formed the hand signs for Haisekishō (Fire Release: Ash Pile Burning). She let the smoke rush forth from her maw, but did not light the charged ash.
Himitsu jumped up, coughing. Well this had started soon and faster than she had thought. She narrowed her eyes as they smarted from the ash. She jumped backwards out of the smoke, rubbing her eyes and looking around for her mentor. Spotting Komakai-Sensei she turned and took up a normal fighting stance and prepared for the worst. She made a choice to not look her teacher in the eyes, but to focus on her feet, as she feared getting trapped in a genjutsu.
Silently the mentor withdrew one of to kiba blades with absolute silence. Placing the blade's handle in her armpit she wove the complex series of signs for the Dusk Crow Genjutsu. A flock of angry cawing crows erupted from the air in front of her and targeted the helpless Genin.
The Genin blinked several times before pulling a kunai out. She took a few steps back as she saw the flock of crows coming at her. She moved to slash at some of the crows while covering her eyes. She took another step back. Big mistake. Komakai had gotten behind her when she wasn't paying attention. And it now was the beginning of Himitsu's end as she had discovered when she felt some of her air leave her lungs. She felt her back come into contact with the hard rubber of a sandal, the force that pushed her through the air for fifteen feet or so. She saw the sky, felt the wind push her hair and felt the slight pain of the hard and unforgiving earth meet her back as the rest of the air left her lungs. It had all happened in a second. She sucked in a breath before attempting to rise to her feet.
