| First Name: Chiharu Last Name: Kojima Alias: The Revitalizing Wisteria Gender: Female Age: 21 Height: 5'2" Weight: 122 lbs Birthday: October 29th Sexuality: Bisexual Relationships: Affiliation: Hidden Storm Village (Boufuugakure No Sato) Rank: Special Jounin Element(s): Fuuton Specialization(s): Medical Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, and Fuuton jutsu. Personality: Chiharu is always level-headed, practical and a rational thinker. As a result, she is the one who tends to stress over details. She often gets comically worked up over any irrational decisions people make. She is also a very kind and calm person but will immediately rush to Cornelia's aide and in contrast, will become fierce and somewhat ruthless; a testament of her loyalty to the Kanetsukage. At the same time however, she is not timid and is not afraid of objecting to Cornelia's decisions or voicing her opinion. She is not the type to tire easily and is very energetic and efficient while acting in her capacity of Kanetsukage's Assistant, often helping to finish the paperwork in order to avoid mountains of unsigned documents later on. She is often seen asking Cornelia questions about what to do with the village and the shinobi on missions. When not 'on duty', Chiharu has a tendency in getting overexcited about certain things. Such as a particularly cool looking jutsu, a cute animal, attractive male or sexy looking female. But years of experience have allowed her to tame her urges. She used to be overenthusiastic in her duties to Cornelia, but after several persuasions, was convinced to relax. But as professional as Chiharu can be, she loves to live. Having lived in a very small sheltered village gave her cravings for new and interesting things as well as an upbeat and optimistic personality. Though two big faults of hers is being indecisive and impatient. Likes: Growing up as a farmer's daughter, Chiharu learned to love fruits and vegetables, basically anything that they could grow and didn't need to pay for. She also likes cooking and learned how to make almost anything taste edible on limited supplies. One of the best rewards to Haru is getting her hair brushed. She likes brushing her own hair fine, but it feels almost a hundred times better when someone else does it. One of her favorite hobbies is writing. She loves penning in her diary and making up silly stories about her and her friends. Another favorite of her is giving people she knows nicknames. Though usually she reserves that honor for people she likes unless they specifically tell her to call them by something else. She also is fond of stealing Kazuma's lollipops, whether they are in his mouth or not and has a penchant for sweet liquors. Dislikes: Heavy sweets and meats are hard for her stomach to handle since she grew up on a nearly vegetarian diet. She despises people touching her glasses, one because if they take them from her she can hardly see a thing and two, they usually end up putting smudges on the glass somehow. And as much as she enjoys getting drunk, she hates the taste of hard liquor. Motivation: Chiharu is motivated by her fears and in turn, her family. She wants to be useful, to her family, her village, her friends and her Kage. But a recent motivation of hers is to be the best medical-nin that she possibly can be so that she never has to see another person die in front of her like she watched her father die. She also hopes that if she becomes a great enough kunoichi that her mother will accept her back home and be proud of her. Fears: Chiharu fears many things but one of them is letting herself become overwhelmed by her fears. Still, she acknowledges them and is afraid of letting her family down by dying in the field without purpose as well as her family dying with no way to help them. This is why she likes to remain in touch with them through letters with her brother, Jun. History: - Spoiler:
Chiharu was born to a small village on the outskirts of Boufuugakure, Regnsky. Her family was one of the few that were farmers. She grew up happily with her younger brother Junichiru and mother Ayumu helping their father, Masato, on the fields. Their area was usually under constant barrage from storms, but that never dissuaded her father from trying to grow what he could to put food on the table. On good seasons they even grew enough to sell in bigger villages. But during the more stormy days, their father would crowd them around the fireplace and tell them fantastical stories, some real and others made up, but all of them fascinated her and her brother. They were usually about great shinobi, Sages or Kages that defended their villages.
But Regnsky's unusual bounty started becoming known around the area and one summer a band of bandits held everyone hostage while they raided their homes and crops. But luck would have it that a Boufuu ninja was passing through the area, Cornelia Mogami. She managed to drive away the rogues, but not before a terrible storm blew in. In a horrible accident, a boulder fell on her father, pinning him. But he wasn't dead, still hanging on to life as his family crowded around him. Cornelia explained gently that there was no way to save him without a healer and by the time she came back with one, he would surely be dead.
Their mother was the first to approach him, but no amount of distance could force out her piercing wails from Chiharu's ears. She had never seen her mother so broken. She was always the strong pillar of their family, of their village even. To see her like this... But father just smiled and told her that they were going to be alright. To stay strong and help her mother and brother through this. Her eyes filled with tears, but she didn't let them fall as she eagerly nodded, kissing her father's cheek. They stayed with him for over an hour until he finally slipped from this world. Cornelia stayed at the edge of their gathering, saying a few prayers to ease the passing and even digging the grave.
Things were hard for the Kojima's after that, but Chiharu managed to stay bright and cheery as her name. She was most worried over Jun as he was so young. He missed the little traditions their father had made with them. So Chi tried to keep those traditions alive. She found an old typewriter in their attic and bought paper and ink to write down all of the stories their father had told them from memory. She would then read them aloud or let Jun read them to himself. This helped Jun recovered quickest. It took Chiharu longer to cope with the loss, though she hid it well.
Their mother however could not move on. Chiharu often was the one looking after Jun and taking care of things around the house. Neighbors took pity and helped them sow the fields. It began to weigh on Chiharu's mind whether she would be here doing the same thing season after season, stuck looking after her mother and brother. She felt horrible for thinking selfishly, but wanted something more.
Another summer passed that was particularly fruitful and she was in charge of taking the extra harvest to town to sell. While there, she encountered Cornelia yet again. The shinobi woman inquired about her wellbeing and that of her family and village and while Chiharu tried to remain cheery in her responses, Cornelia could see her forcefulness. Steering the conversation to a new topic, she asked what Chiharu's plans in life were. And the girl stopped dead. She didn't know how to answer. She didn't want to be stuck being a farmer trying to grow crops out of storm weathered dirt, but what else could she do? She said as much and Cornelia offered the possibility of becoming a Boufuugakure ninja. Chiharu immediately rejected the idea, stating that she was weak, slow and had poor eyesight besides the fact that she didn't know any jutsu. She knew that the majority of people that became shinobis came from powerful or famous clans. She was just the daughter of a farmer. But the woman told her to think about it. To not let her own ideas weigh down her decision but think about what she wanted. And when she made a decision, to come by Loki's Delight.
After going back home, Chiharu thought for weeks about Cornelia's offer and eventually told Jun about her idea. The boy encouraged her and told her that he would do the same if he was old enough. This worried her at first but he placated her and said that he wouldn't leave their mother alone and that she should follow the path she wanted to take. Finally she mustered up the courage to tell her mother, but the conversation did not go well. Ayumu alternated between yelling and crying, saying that she couldn't let her baby girl die too. But Chiharu stood her ground, arguing that she was either going to die here or die out there and that she would be a lot happier at least having a chance out there. This hurt her mother deeply, but she argued no further. It wasn't acceptance...but it was as good as she was going to get. Knowing this, Haru bid her goodbyes to Jun and packed a bag before heading off to find the mysterious bar she was supposed to meet Cornelia.
When she finally found it, the woman wasn't there, but she waited all day and eventually the kunoichi showed up with a small unsurprised smile. The older girl let her stay in her flat and the next day, took her to the Ninja Academy and helped her enroll. She thought that she would be teased or alienated for not coming from a family of ninjas or a clan, but nobody seemed to care too much, it was just that those from Clans tended to have an advantage. That was what lead her to think that they would be snotty stuck up brats, but her first friend was Kazuma Hyuga.
Some other classmates were teasing him because they thought he was blind due to his white eyes, but he was acting perfectly normal otherwise. She stood up for him and told the others that they were idiots. That was how they became friends. He told her that his eyes were white like that because it was a gift from his father's family, the Hyuga clan. The way he explained it made it seem like it made him see really good, which impressed her as she couldn't see nearly as far or as clear as him! But not everything remained chipper for her.
Only two months had passed in their initial training before Chiharu determined that she was a complete failure of a ninja. Everyone else was faster and stronger and hardier and deeper bloodlines than her. The only thing she excelled at was passing the written tests. And Cornelia wasn't around anymore to help or give advice. Kazuma tried to encourage her, but couldn't really do anything to help. Haru began to doubt the wisdom of trying to become a kunoichi until their sensei praised how intelligent and ingenuitive she was. Noting her excellent chakra control, he suggested she try looking into iijutsu. The idea of becoming a medical-nin wasn't appealing to her and she stated as such, but was explained that learning medical ninjutsu didn't necessarily mean that she had to solely become a medical-nin. Placated with that knowledge, Chiharu decided to give it a try and found that she excelled in iijutsu, but kept the fact hidden from her teammates besides her sensei. She didn't want them thinking she was more weak than before. She trained to her strengths, genjutsu and Fuuton ninjutsu. And eventually she began to almost keep up with her comrades and graduated into a genin finally.
It took a while, but they were finally sent out on their first important mission. They had to escort a very important person from point A to point B. They didn't know who the person was or why they had to escort them, only that it was their job and it must be important. In the middle of their journey they were ambushed by two assassins and though they managed to take one down, the other managed to hit their charge as he fled. They all thought that they were done for and that the person was going to die, but Chiharu stepped up and immediately began heal them. Her team was amazed at her skill and happy that they could continue on their way.
When they reached their designation, they discovered that the person they had been guarding was a delegate from another village and that the assassins sent after them were from a violent faction of Boufuugakure that didn't want any peace talks to happen. It amazed everyone that Chiharu had likely stopped a war from breaking out. After that, Haru didn't feel her iijutsu was a weakness and made sure to train as hard as she could to get better.
Because of their recently amazing performance, their team was nominated to participate in the Chuunin exams. The first test in the exams was a written test, which Chi found difficult but was still able to answer correctly. She didn't know that the goal was to cheat without being caught, but managed to pass nonetheless. However when it was stated at the end that there was a tenth and final question that determined their fates as Chuunin, she was hesitant. Many genin opted out and left rather than deal with the possibility of never being able to become a chuunin. But she looked at her teammates determination and stood her ground. She was confident that they would be able to handle whatever was thrown at them. And in the end there wasn't any tenth question. It was just to narrow down those who didn't have enough resolve.
The next stage was much more harrowing as the rest of the participants were taken to the Forest of Death. Each team was given either a Heaven Scroll or Earth Scroll and Kazuma decided that it would be best to team up with another Boufuu team. With six genin together, they were able to get the other two scrolls that they needed to pass the stage, though not without a significant amount of injuries. The final stage was more forthright and a little less deadly. Whoever won their set match passed and went on to become a genin. Haru got lucky and was paired against a Hyuuga kunoichi that wasn't a very good fighter. She was able to outwit the girl and pass before watching Kazuma's match. He was going against a Kusamuragakure shinobi that seemed formidable. Their match lasted longer than most, but just like Chiharu thought, Kazuma prevailed. They were really becoming true Boufuu ninjas now!
However there was still something...off. It had never really bothered her before, but her vision was starting to become a serious problem. She couldn't properly aim a thrown kunai if the target was more than a set distance away and distinguishing friend from foe was also a real possibility. Haru asked a medical-nin if it was possible to heal her eyes, but he simply suggested she get glasses. It cost more than she liked, but the difference was amazing. She hadn't realized how bad her eyesight was until she had glasses and because of it, did much better in her training. One thing she made sure to get better at was her speed. She knew that as the healer of their group, she needed to get to the injured quick as well as be able to dodge hits. Kazuma and her trained almost every morning, becoming quite a team. He was able to take the front lines while she supported him from the shadows.
They continued on their usual missions and team until Kazuma and Chiharu were approached by their sensei. They were to be promoted to Special Jounins for their outstanding performance in taijutsu and iijutsu. Chiharu was thrilled and forced Kazuma and their sensei to celebrate extensively with her. And yet after the initial joy of the promotion faded, she wondered if she was good enough to be accepted back home yet. After a few days of stalling, Chi decided to go and visit her home village again. But it didn't last long. She got to speak with Jun-kun for a moment before their mother came out of the house before going right back in, slamming the door behind her. That was all the answer that she expected. She bid a sad goodbye to her little brother, forgetting even to tell him about her promotion, but not forgetting to give him some money and a small gift before she left.
After that, she immersed herself in her missions, even helping out at the hospital and applying for a job to become the kage's assistant. She wasn't surprised that Cornelia had managed to achieve such a high rank. But by being her assistant, maybe she would be able to learn a thing or two as well as being close to her idol.

Junichiro let out a satisfied sigh as he pulled out the last of the leeks and carrots from his patch of the field. Raising an arm to wipe the sweat from his brow, the boy squinted as he saw something on the road into their village, the setting sun making it hard to make out... But he was almost sure that he saw a figure walking this way... As a cloud passed by he beamed in recognition before exclaiming loudly, "Onee-chan!"
He quickly set down his basket of vegetables before sprinting towards the girl with wide arms, the kunoichi catching the boy in a tight hug. "Welcome home Haru-chan." He greeted with his face buried. The bespectacled girl gave an emotion filled smile before kissing the top of his dirty head and saying, "It's good to see you Jun-kun."
Then stepping back, she placed her hands on his shoulders and pushed him away gently to get a good look at him before brushing off the copious amounts of dirt from his body. Shaking her head ruefully she simply settled for tousling his hair. "You've been working hard I see. And I think you even grew!" She exclaimed with mock wonder, giggling as Junichiro huffed and tried to bat away her petting hand.
"So...how's mom?" The boy's hesitant answer said it all to her and she simply nodded with a small smile of understanding, her glasses only partially masking her disappointed eyes. Jun spoke up hurriedly, trying to defend the woman, "She's trying now though! She's been helping out in the field a lot and she actually goes out and gossips with the neighbors again. Some days are worse than others, but..." He shrugged weakly, conveying a known silent message to his sibling.
Then a slight creaking noise was heard over the field and the door to Junichiro's home opened just a crack as Ayumu began to step out before freezing upon seeing Chiharu. An undistinguishable expression passed over her face before she turned on the spot and slammed the door closed behind her. Junichiro flinched at the gesture and tentatively looked to the side at his sister who's face held a specific lack of emotion, the sun making a bright glare on her glasses.
But then the moment passed and she noticed her brother's stare and smiled gently at him, patting his shoulder and said, "I'm glad I got to see you again Jun-kun. But it looks like this visit can't last very long. Maybe next time alright? I'll send a letter ahead of me. Oh, and I almost forgot." The lavender haired girl shrugged off the pack on her back and rummaged in it for a moment before pulling out a very small bag and handing it her brother. He didn't seem surprised at the gift, though he was happy as he opened it and saw a good amount of ryo alongside a loaf of carrot cake. Shaking his head in amusement he smiled up at Chiharu before grabbing her in a one armed hug. "Arigato Haru-nee." She rubbed his back and nodded into his hair before stepping back and re-shouldering her pack. "Until next time Jun-nii."
