Semasu looked across the hills of Ferrum, the hills and plains in the area were covered in a lush green vibrance of nature- the grass, which could be compared to Mother nature's garments. Semasu was out and enjoying the fresh air like she always does, but she was at this particular place for a very interesting reason. She had hear rumors of old mines in this area that stretched on endlessly and people could easily get lost, it was by hope that Semasu could explore these abandoned tunnels and come back alive to talk about them... though she did not talk to many people.

Just ahead was the supposed entrance to the tunnels, but she could not yet see the entrance: was it a hidden entrance or a hole in the ground? Intrigue filled her as she made her way closer to the "entrance"

Maybe I'll find a corpse or two with valuable items!

the thought of finding a corpse should be disturbing, but Semasu was not bothered by trivia things like this.

It took her another good ten minutes or so to reach the crown of the hill and inspect the "entrance" to the abandoned mines. The mine entrance was actually a cave, metal cart tracks started from the dirt ground and continued on into the darkness of the rock floor of the cave. The air was moist even at the mouth of the cave and her voice echoed a long ways as she yelled inside to test its length; she would have really hated to go a few feet into the cave and find a dead end.

She stepped into the cave and walked far enough that the sunlight was strained to give proper lighting, it was important to make ones eyes accustomed to the darkness in such an environment. She had picked up a torch from the entrance and lit it only after her eyes had adjusted to the surroundings, the light from the torch was enough to see the immediate surroundings, but not bright enough to ruin her night-like accustomed vision.

Semasu traveled but a short distance when she was faced with several paths that branched in different directions; she took time to carve a marking into her exit so that she would not get lost. She chose the far left path and traveled maybe thirty feet before she ran into a dead end abruptly, how she hated running into dead ends. She backtracked to the main room and chose the far right path- this one went quite a ways and didn't give her any trouble.

The path was fairly smooth considering the railways carts and workers had cultivated the passages to be fit for constant travel. She couldn't help but wonder why the mines had been abandoned though, no one had explained this much to her- so she had come to check herself.

The far right path had taken her a lot further than she had originally guessed; she assumed the path would take her maybe thirty minutes to find the exit or at the very least... another dead end. This path had been stretching on for over an hour now and the end was still not in sight, it was a good thing that she had chosen to do this in the early morning. It was not even noon yet so Semasu was not worried, she was determined to see the end of this path and every other nook and cranny of the tunnels.

She glanced down at the tracks and noticed that these tracks seemed much older and used far more often, however not in the most recent of history. Rust was building atop the tracks and bolts holding them down tightly were starting to come up from the shift in rock formations.

Semasu noted now that the air in this part of the cave seemed warmer but also more moist; she guessed that the air was no longer affected by the outside air- which meant that the air down here was stagnant. Her assumption was partially wrong however, she could smell fresh water nearby somewhere and could faintly hear a trickling stream. She followed the sound of the water which happened to be in the same direction as the cart tracks: a small bridge had been built to cross a fairly deep stream in the cave- apparently the stream provided the cave with fresh air once in a while and made it possible to stay down here for extended periods of time... this explained why working down here was easy enough when it was actively used.

However this did nothing to tell her why it had been abandoned, she saw no sign of attacks or creatures yet that would warrant disbandment.

Semasu approached the bridge, the waters were glowing somewhat from the refracted sunlight some ways way ahead and gave a luminescent glow throughout this part of the cave- she didn't even need the torch for this part of the cave. She tested the weight and durability of the bridge before standing fully on it, it had been a while since she had gotten to enjoy a moment of peace by herself. She took off her shoes and sat along the ledge of the bridge and dipped her feet into the water. The water was cool and pleasant and the strong force of the stream tickled against her skin as water splashed on her legs; the water was not the problem either and so far she hadn't found any creature or anything in the water.

This is getting annoying, I still can't figure out why they abandoned this place...
